Spare Saiga 12 bolt availability?

Recommended Posts

Once in awhile someone parts out an S12

I see them a few times a year in the WTS forum

They go quick when posted so check often.

I have a complete & new S12 bolt assembly that I picked up years back from Doug at the now defunct, www.avtomatsinaction.com

He used to get factory S12 parts in on a infrequent basis, he always had the cool stuff.

They're no longer available, haven't been in forever and likely never will be.

I do believe someone has an aftermarket bolt coming to market soon, forget who it was.

I've often half joked that I'd sell my bolt assembly for $500.00 to those who managed to FUBAR their own.
No one has taken me up on it...  Yet.

For a long time when I got my first s12 I worried about finding a spare bolt. After a few years here I've come to realize that outside of of someone fucking up a bolt themselves l, I have yet to read about someone having a broken or incorrectly working bolt ( that couldn't be fixed by disassembly and cleaning, new firing pin etc)

So I've come to realize that should zombies take over the earth and my s12 becomes vital to my existence, my spare bolt resides in my other s12. If that one breaks too, well then it sucks to be me.

A real problem I've seen several times is the op rod cracking at the carrier. And there IS a replacement for that.

Didn't see the retracted joke. Not sure why you find the question so funny. My bolt is also fine. Hoping to add some spare parts. I happen to know of someone that recently sold out of all the spare bolts he had but I did purchase a new top dust cover. I realize how difficult it is to find. Guess I asked the wrong question on the wrong forum.

Sorry not purposefully trying to ride your ass. Just saying this isn't an ar. Chances are your bolt will outlast you and your kids. Yes there is the chance of checking the for sale ads for a bolt and that does work. All I'm saying is don't sweat it too much. If you're super jonesing for a spare bolt do what I did and just buy another 12. If you're worried about an actual parts breakage buy a bolt carrier from r& r and a Tom cole rod, test it m, then put it away

Fatty alcohol has it right. You may never need any spare parts. Kinda like a spare tire on your car, plus the tools and stuff needed to change out a flat. But ... I keep spare parts with all the other guns, especially all the USGI M1 Carbines the extended family has chosen for prepping and stuff, but that is another subject and point of view.

Speaking of changing out flat tires, I just recently realized, (after 7 years) that my lug nut wrench kept in the back of the baby SUV would NOT have fit the oversize acorn nuts on the after market wheels! Here I thought I could change out my flats? Nope. But, I never have needed too also. Kinda like Saiga spare parts. Paranoid? HB of CJ (old coot)

I find statistics cool. We think we need stuff, but the facts say otherwise.

fatty a: no problem. I was referring to the first post regarding the joke ( that I did not see ). The reason I posted is because I have a TROMIX S17 (8"). I've read a few posts where certain parts get beat up due to over gassing. The bolt carrier is my main interest. I love shooting slugs. I'm probably overly concerned.
