The Magpul Steel Reinforced AK mags.

Rob said "Reinforced front mag lip and locking tab looks promising."

And I've messaged online to Rob about it and he's like me and many of the rest of us, he's all about the steel reinforcement of polymer AK mags.

Prototype?

Last I read, maybe yesterday?, the SHOT show versions are still a prototype and the final design isnt complete. IIRC they said the rear lug area was done, front needed some tweaking. They might end up with polymer feed lips, the polymer lips performed in tests better than steel, but customers are demanding steel feed lips.

They would, the polymer lips provide more flex and would be more friendly to tolerance differences between manufactured AK bolts, I can see exactly how it would perform better, that's no bs there.  The shear action force on the front locking lip and tab require the rigidness of steel, we all know that.  I can easily forgive them if the feed lips are polymer since they perform better that way.

I figured it was likely not in production yet, smart to go for direct feed back first before going into production.
