In the video above, the guy shows that the pin is clearly sticking in the forward position. Take the bitch out and clean the channel, try again. If not, check for obstruction, smooth surfaces until it rides smoothly and freely. Now, with that said, he should NOT have to do that, especially after Century fucked up once already. Seems their quality may be dipping again. Check this out:

After hearing what he said happened to his first C39, I wondered if this was him (remembering the video), but it's not a C39.

Some is normal yes, guess thats what adds ambiguity to the matter. Deep denting and slam fires of course not.

Finally told em if the bolt doesnt sount like a rattle can when shaken something isnt right, what you going to do.

You get into these guys heads you find a fair amount of fire arms ignorance as well as mechanical. All these new gun owners people talk about. I just try to be very careful what I tell them in particular since unlike the Saiga they have a recourse with the factory. Main reason this board has always been so necessary through the years.

Thanks for the replies.

I get some very light dimples on primers on my rifle.  Pull the bolt, and make sure the firing pin is completely free, if it sticks AT ALL take it apart and clean the shit out of it.  Not sure how people feel about lubing the firing pin channel, but I've heard not to and I don't

Firing pin retaining springs are a good idea. Most civilian versions of military type rifles do have a floating firing pin. No return or restraining spring. Dimpling on the primers is a result ... especially if the ammo is not military spec, especially the primers not being hard enough. Normal. Use hard primer ammo only. Enjoy. HB of CJ (old coot)

My Norinco shows light primer dents but nothing worth being concerned over. My Saiga 308 has an almost exact indent when using commercial loads but seems surplus primers are clean. Really depends on ammo for any of the calibers but I shoot more commercial x39 than 308, as surplus is easier to find around here in some calibers over others

Tolerance stacking problems between their firing pin manufacturer and bolt manufacturer. Somehow I doubt all of this is happening on the same CNC machines.

Five minutes working on the inner face of the pin channel opening with some polishing compound and a dowel would probably solve the issue. but as you said there is a distinct lack of mechanical skill in many new gun owners today, and nobody should have to be doing that shit on a factory-new rifle.

I can't say that I've ever checked for indents on any of my rifles, but I've never had any of them slam fire either, even the SKSes. Just keep them clean, even if it's only a good blasting of compressed air into the FP channel every now and then.

If you notice in the vid the guy has what looks like a full mag on a rifle with a possibility of slamfiring.

I did try to explain that and that AK going off indoors would likely at least blow his ear drums out.

I dont mind telling a child the stove is hot but damn I see some seriously stupid crap from adults not just lapses of judgement but little judgement to begin. Symptom of the Endarkening I gather.

This is why I always take the left most position at a range if possible... gotta watch folks.
