doug01 3
I know most here are probably Saiga biased but are there other options in a comparable price range in the configured style that will shoot full powered .308's. I had a Cetme but heard from a lot of people on other forums not to shoot modern .308's but the 7.62 nato. I'm guessing by the time a Saiga was bought and converted it'd be what.........about $650-700? Or am I way off here? Thanks for any info. Doug
monomonk 0
If you can get a metric FAL with an Imbel receiver, you will probably be happy. Metric FAL mags are cheap and plentiful. You can buy one of the Century FALs if you KNOW that it is reliable and fully functional, or you can buy one without knowing its history of pereformance and take a chance, if you can test it and return it if there is a problem. I have a Saiga .308 and two FALs. Tokageko 8
It all depends on your taste I geuss. Personally I love my 308 saiga. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Of course, the CETME has a home in my heart as well. I even love the M14. As far as the FAL goes, I haven't ever shot one. All of them have their good points... none of which is cost. Honestly: how can you put a price on love? Buy quality ammo from reputable makers, and don't take any advice about this stuff as gospel unless it's from an armorer/gunsmith who specialises in the type of weapon you're using.
