Spartacus 1,619
I've always been a bit nervous of these things.... seems too easy for the lady to ND into her chest, or in this case into her head. If a ND is going to happen, much better it's into a lower extremity. Please forward this to any females you know who carry this way. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/02/24/fatal-nd-using-bra-holster/?utm_source=feedly&utm_reader=feedly&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/02/18/woman-fatally-shoots-herself-while-adjusting-bra-holster-police/ Edited February 26, 2015 by Spartacus

KennyFSU 249
Gun had to be out of the holster to fire (covers trigger guard).
scattergun10 125
This is not a good way to carry to start with IMHO. Why not just carry on the hip or IWB like everyone else? Is it because of the "cool factor"?
Sim_Player 1,939
Wow! That's a poorly designed way to carry! Just another reason not to carry with a round in the chamber, IMHO. Edited February 26, 2015 by Sim_Player
KennyFSU 249
Wow! That's a poorly designed way to carry! Just another reason not to carry with a round in the chamber, IMHO. The design is fine, it's the operator that made the mistake. If a carry gun doesn't have one in the chamber it's a paperweight.
Spartacus 1,619
Wow! That's a poorly designed way to carry! Just another reason not to carry with a round in the chamber, IMHO. The design is fine, it's the operator that made the mistake. If a carry gun doesn't have one in the chamber it's a paperweight. But the design can't assume a perfect user in everyday life. The design can be functional and yet still be unsafe. My wife has trouble with the TV remote, I wouldn't want her futzing with a loaded gun between her boobs! No, I don't mean that as a slam against women. Just telling it like it is, and my wife would agree with me on this. And please.... no references to loaded meat guns between boobs.
Rhodes1968 1,638
Women's clothing makes cc extremely problematic. Without knowing exactly what happened, and Im sorry to say that info passed with her, its all just assumptions with all the baggage that word carries. The holster she used should be just as safe as an IWB very familiar with the design. Since day one it only takes one screw-up with a firearm, this is no different. Pop quiz... how many men have shot themselves while holstering weapons with much better access than women have available?

I never carry with a round in the chamber. Even when I did have to pull it empty, it was enough to turn a black man white. Got his kitchen knife in the drawer. Practice racking the slide as you draw until it's natural.

G O B 3,516
The wife's first reaction to this was "A BRA holster - WHAT A BAD IDEA!".
DogMan 2,343
Any non-conventional way of carrying is going to require a little more caution and awareness. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with a bra holster as long as she understands that. It sounds like she got frustrated with it and then got careless. That's on her. A bra holster is probably not a good idea for every woman. Edited February 27, 2015 by DogMan
