patriot 7,197
Keep a couple of big fire extinguishers handy just in case. Campers burn FAST.

Sim_Player 1,939
Very cool! I like it!
Deadeye 325
It feels like home inside now. I have a fire extinguisher handy. It seems pretty saif. Non combustibles all around it
patriot 7,197
You would get more heat out of it with another can piped in to the top of it to capture more of the exhaust gas heat. Like a drum stove. These things are a great furnace, but you need to put a layer of firebrick or sand in the bottom so it doesn't burn out too soon. I'd like to make one out of stainless drums someday... Edited March 1, 2015 by patriot
JESS1344 508
DEADEYE, I'D BE CAREFUL OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THAT CAMPER. MONOXIDE DETECTORS ARE CHEAPER THAN FUNERALS. JUS' SAYIN'..... JESS1344

patriot 7,197
What did you use to replace the rubber lid gasket?
Deadeye 325
I just removed the rubber gasket. The seal is on botom. Ashes seal up the tiny bit of gap. This old camper is far from air tight. I don't think carbon monoxide will be a issue. I have a detection device I could throw inside.
patriot 7,197
Something like this would help move the heat around.... http://w3bguru.com/videos/how-to-make-your-own-wood-stove-diy-homemade-eco-fan-using-peltier-thermoelectric-teg/
Deadeye 325
Wood heat is so much nicer that the small propane thing it has. Also its good to dry out the musty smell. Oregon is damp 6 months of the Year.
