Flatland Shooter 22
I didn't want to interrupt another thread but was curious about the following comment posted. "The best thing I have done to mine is to polish the everliving crap out of the bolt and carrier. That dramatically improved reliability for me and got rid of the "crunchy" feeling mine had when cycling the action." I've not done this to my pre-XN gun and don't remember this mentioned before on any forum, but wondered if others have polished their bolt and carrier.
philrab 57
Only polishing I did (with 1500 grit sandpaper) was the bottom of the bolt where it runs the hammer, and interface between the single hook trigger and trigger. Can smooth the action, some people report reduction in felt recoil. Let me find a link. http://www.dinzagarms.com/downloads/polishing_saiga-12.pdf Page 3.
deathray 4
I used a buffing wheel and rouge. It took a while (these things are fairly hard) but it is much smoother. I did the entire bolt body, bolt carrier, and the bolt locking lug. It is a very common thing to do on Saigas, so I figured I'd try it on my MKA despite it being a completely different design. It worked well for me.
Flatland Shooter 22
Thanks for the quick response gentlemen. I think I will give it a try. Mine is running quite well but every little bit helps. Bill
