I saw a story a couple of weeks ago that showed that people identifying themselves as Christian has fallen from 78% to around 70% I. America in the last six years. It may be the same story where you got your information Dad. My first reaction was that the story is flawed from the get go. Whether 78% or 70% self identify as Christians, that number is ridiculously inflated. If 70% of Americans where true followers of Christ, we would live in a much better America, where people looked out for others before themselves. Going to church doesn't make one a Christian. Heck I would be shocked if 78% of the members of my church are true Christians, that meaning someone who follows the example of Christ and depends solely on God's grace and mercy for salvation.

I am not religious. But I can tell good from evil.  You can tell all you need to know about a religion by how it treats unbelievers.  Christians may show up on my doorstep in a misguided attempt to save my soul, but islamists want to kill me.

Either you believe or you do not.  Simple.  I also believe the liberal press is full of crap.  They WANT us to believe that Christianity is on the decline...and the list of their wants vs truth is long and horrid.

Has it gone done?  Probably, but not enough to matter.  I believe and so does my family.  That is really all that matters to me.

^^^That is the doctrine of several of the people we are facing.

Kill off the bucks and breed the rest out of existence.

Seem like the muslims have long favored rape as a weapon of war to gain superior numbers.

If you can’t convert them breed them.

Well, I think part of why Islam is growing, is that they generally have moral certainty and generally practice most of their doctrinal  beliefs. This is attractive.

western "christians" tend to be indistinguishable in practice and in stated views from secular humanists. We pick and choose which doctrines we believe and do, and therefore are hypocrites and not very credible. Hypocrisy is easy to recognize and undermines any value an outsider would see. For example, half the people are going to comment agreement to the OP here are regular posters on the various pornography threads here. I doubt that fact has escaped the notice of the atheist people here. They can look and see that "christian" actions don't match christian doctrine, and say they want no part of us.

by what I believe after I die I will have to stand before my Creator and answer for all my wrongs (no small number)

but with my belief I have the greatest Advocate in Christ

so I will be forgiven

yes it would be better if I set a better example before the non-believers

but they're not the ones I really have to answer to

so piss on them

they're going to hell anyway.

add one more to answer for.

Odds are the 8% are the kids whose parents never went to any sort of religious events.. Why would they identify with anything?

The other option is that the people taking the polls stopped wanting to share those details. I won't admit to owning a firearm on any forms, why would I?

All Christians are hypocrites by the world's definition. There is not one of us who has not done what we hate. That's where grace and forgiveness abounds for those who seek Him. FTR, it has been my observation that Christians tend to be most vocal against the very sin they struggle with personally. I try to avoid threads where I see naked women etc. because that is where my personal struggles lies. I like seeing beautiful naked women, but in my spirit I hate it, because I have committed myself to one woman whom I love very much. There are days where I feel like I am doing the things that God would have me do, and there are other times when I feel like "Father, how can you possibly forgive me?" But He can, He does, and He will.

The problem with Christianity in America is that most are so busy trying to be seen as perfect, that we forget brokenness, humility, and love for others is the hallmark of our salvation. Jesus tells us to love one another as I have loved you, that is how the world will know we are His disciples if we love one another. Many Christians today won't even take off the masks on Sunday morning at church to make themselves vulnerable in fear of the judgement they will face from other Christians.

So yes Christianity has a credibility problem in this country, and it is from our own making. If we lived every tenet of Christ's teaching, it would be much better. Then again, if we could live every tenet of Christ's teaching, He would not have had to die as a sacrifice for my sin and ask only that I live in faith for Him. Christianity in third world nations, or where it is actively persecuted looks very different. It looks the way Christ intended.

Men are the biggest obstacle to their children coming to faith in Christ. It is the "pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get it done mentality". True faith in Christ requires men to admit that they can't do it by themselves, and that is completely opposite of how we are hard wired. In truth, the more I lay myself down, the bolder (not judgmental) I become. My wife and children see me admitting my weaknesses as well as showing my strengths. I hope that by showing both, I might bring them (which God has), and others to a saving relationship with Christ.

I am sorry that the behavior of so many "Christians" have turned so many off to Christ. That was never Jesus' intention. Quite the opposite actually. Jesus tells us to let your good works be seen before all men so that the world may praise your Father in heaven. I also apologize for this long winded post that is completely unfirearms related. It is just something that I am am convicted of and wanted to share.

This is ONE Christian who is NOT on the decline.

Right ON!!

Do not believe the left wing, lying, BS satanistic, media.

Christianity is actually on the rise as much as they try to lie about the truth. The evil enemy refuses report the dramatic increase in believers in Commie China and middle eastern nations. They are just not publicised because it will mean their death in those evil controlled countries. This is all part of the plan that includes demonizing believers in Christ and celebrating all that is perverted, immoral and fake religions that are an abomination in the eyes of God. A day of reckoning will be coming and these f*cks know it.

Many millions upon millions of non believers will be saved they just don't know it yet, the rest are doomed and whatever "religion" you choose to call yourself will make no difference.

At work we have Muslims who take extra (paid) breaks to assume the slave's position and pray to their demon. Some do this right in the aisles at work.

When they ask me to work Sunday, I tell them God made the 7th Day a Day of Rest. If God gets the day off, so do I.

If they ever try to push the point, I'll remind them of the above.

My boss didn't like me wearing a shirt with pics of Uzis on the back, and told me it was a bit extreme (We're a defense contractor, too BTW) and may offend some people. I told him what better thing to wear than a shirt depicting the weapon made by God's chosen people to defend the homeland He gave them? That was the last time he mentioned it.

Spacehog nailed it. and what he said applies to me.

They say you are what you do when no one is looking. No such place really exists, our secret sins do find us out. If the headline is something that concerns you, as it does for me, the only choice is to make our seemingly private lives and make sure our private actions and personas match up with what we would want to be on the front page of the newspaper. Don't say or do anything here, that you wouldn't want on display in front of your daughter, your son, wife, co-workers...

All people are fallen and hypocrites. Christianity does not have a monopoly on that. Christianity is based in part on the notion that every one of us is an evil jerk, who is being redeemed under grace, and made to be better over time. This is a byproduct, not a prerequisite nor the end goal.

For the record, other byproducts of christianity are a society with unprecedented honesty, integrity, freedom, respect for women, basic human rights, scientific and economic progress... America has been coasting on the benefits that result from the blessings of the cultural effects of their values, and they have always been a minority here.

You have to believe in ghosts to be a Christian.

I don't believe in ghosts therefore I am no Christian.

That's news to me. If you mean the spirit of a dead person coming back to haunt his old house the bible says no they do not exist If you mean Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit that is the third person of the Trinity And is not the same thing.

There has been a lot that has underminded the impact a relation with Jesus Christ can have on a person's life in these times and admittedly that is not for everyone.  However, there is truth for those that sincerely seek it.

Might be a lot of short falls, yet if crap goes bad, 1st groups to Show up, donate time/money/goods, work the hardest, and last to leave are Christian/Jewish based, be a lot more misery without, non believers lives are easier, without any effort of their own. Lot like the anti-military sleeping safely due to those who volunteer to keep us all safer. Go to a secularist run 3rd world hell whole, and you'll quickly understand. Wonder why people of faith are 1st to be persecuted and held up as examples what will happen if you wont be indoctrinated. Happening now in our country.
