XD45 7,124
A few hundred rounds downrange and the world just seems a brighter place. My newly built 223 Wylde SPR is just awesome. The Wilson barrel is worth every penny. With the bipod and Surefire brake my scope barely moves on the shot. I can just sit and bounce rocks on the 300yd berm all day with Wolf Gold. It just never gets old. The POF trigger is nice too. I wasn't sure if I liked the SPR once I got it done but she's a keeper. The 556R, the Pit Bull, the Tavor, the 930SPX, the CX4, and the AR I stole from my wife all ran like clockwork. I was so relaxed on the way home I missed my exit and had to take the long way home. And before somebody says "Pics or it didn't happen..."
David Mark 2,452
I hear you Darth. Been doing a lot of property improvement lately and I am in some serious need of trigger time. No doubt about it, it is good for the soul.
JDeko 792
I concur, I've never really put "hundreds" of rounds down range but once or twice but I know 90 minutes and 100-150 rounds do me a lot of good.
patriot 7,197
I just need the right person to hold the targets for me. Any volunteers?
Dad2142Dad 6,559
Walked the new property today withe tavor and.45. Stopped a few places to shoot. The neighbors obliged with some music. Was a good day
mancat 2,368
Most of my recent range sessions have just been more stress than relief and ultimately just not worth it. Tired of my usual private range, and get interrupted too often on my public land shooting spots closest to home. Going to Montana next week and should hopefully have some good shooting times and some better long range opportunities..
XD45 7,124
Couple hundred rounds of 5.56, a hundred or so each of x39 and 9mm, and 50 shotgun shells. That little CX4 is a hoot. But fuuuuuuuuuck those 30rd mags are hard to load. Hardest mags I've ever loaded in my life. Damn near broke the plastic mag loader that came with the CX4. Time to order a metal one.
JDeko 792
Yeah, my trip to the range last was to go celebrate my getting a job. However between the .380 Bodyguard being a massive POS and my not being really great off the bat with the XD .45 it wasn't much of a celebration.
Hawk451 2,230
Damn near broke the plastic mag loader that came with the CX4. Time to order a metal one. Try one of these, work great for most single & double column mags: IF it's not raining again, I'll head out tomorrow too. Been more than a month & I need some trigger time. I'm thinking 22LR, 30 carbine, 45 ACP & 45-70. For some reason, they don't want shotguns on the range unless it's birdshot on the trap range. Heartbreaker 1,085
Luckily I am out in the country on a good-sized property where i can set up for most target shooting. The only problem is that my mom and grandma get annoyed when I shoot .308 or 12 gauge, I think it's something about exessive noise but it's hard to make out cuz of the muffs...
gunfun 3,931
They seem cheesy, but the best mag loader I have used is the mantis loader. I prefer it to the HKS and maglula ones or the style that come with glocks. I have a standing ebay search to nab them, since they seem to be discontinued.

Mine uses the 92 mags and I don't have any issues loading the 30s..Yes you are right they are a blast to shoot....The only thing I have that is more fun to shoot is my UMP. Any range time is always good. Edited May 24, 2015 by sccritterkiller

horatio 515
Nice selection there darth. I hear you on the therapy thing. I rarely get to a range that allows anything other than pistol rounds, so I really look forward to the time I get to spend with the long guns. Also, on a good note, I found out they're building a range not too far from me. That'll be nice, since my current closest range is about 15 miles away. Total hole in the wall, but prices are rock bottom on guns and the patrons all seem pretty decent. Also, hey darth, i meant to pm you when you made that post about some upgrades to your mossy semi. I remember you did some stuff that looked real good and I wanted to do it on mine when I get it soon (I'd have it already if Sam would stop sporadically getting in GT ) Could you pm me what you had done? Love the paint job on it. Thanks

Coyote Tan 930SPX, Mesa Tactical Urbino stock, Magpul AFG on MOE rail (had to custom fit the rail), Nordic barrel clamp, barrel threaded for Remchokes. The standard stock on the 930 is too long and the Urbino is the only option that shortens the length of pull unless you do some serious customizing.
sccritterkiller 473
It uses 92 mags. The 30 round mags are Mec-Gar. Keep an eye out for some Beretta 30rders. I don't have any issues out of mine.
XD45 7,124
OK my bad. The 30 rounders are not Mec Gar. The 17rd mags are Mec Gar. The 30 rounders and 20 rounders are Beretta. I bought them directly from Beretta. Say PB Cal9 Made in Italy on them. They work great. They're just hard to load.
XD45 7,124
Well I enjoyed the trip Saturday so much I decided to repeat it today. The range I often shoot at is public but not supervised. It's an old NG range that has been opened to the public. On one of the benches and around it was dried blood. Not enough blood for a life threatening injury but definitely more than a Band-Aid. Got no idea what happened but the blood wasn't there on Saturday. So boys and girls, have fun, but be safe.
JDeko 792
its amazing the amounts of holes in the cement floor at the range I go to, not to mention the ceiling.
gunfun 3,931
The one I used was free of holes, but had innumerable smears. Their geometry limited impacts to glances rather than pitting, and I doubt there was a square inch forward of about 10' from the firing line without a streak on it. It does make you wonder about the competence of the shooting crowd.
JDeko 792
Admittedly one of the floor holes was mine. I tried firing the .460 XVR double action and even though I could see the barrel drooping and was thinking "just stop, this won't work..." I kept squeezing the trigger and soon saw a poof of dust from where I shot the floor.

I've never shot a pistol with that much power, and the 460 is an interesting concept.
JDeko 792
It is very fun to shoot, recoils straight back so its very comfortable and makes me feel like a artillery cannon. Its extremely loud since the bullets are so fast, and I'm pretty sure the blast wave blew up a pen in my pocket once. Makes very neat holes in targets too, almost like a hole punch. I bought them directly from Beretta. Say PB Cal9 Made in Italy on them. They work great. They're just hard to load. I have a 92S on the way( Italian surplus). It has the mag release at the bottom of the grip. Do you know if the 17, 20, & 30 round Beretta mags will work in this gun? I know the 15 rounders work because they have the indent hole at the bottom of the mags but I can't see if the 17-20 rounders have that little indent hole at the bottom. Same deal for using beretta mags in a taurus. Just put the mag notch where you need it.
