s2324 0
Hello, It has been awhile since I have been on this site. Has anyone tried the Troy AK bottom handguard on the Saiga 12? I am looking at either the short or long version. I tried to seach, but came up empty. Thanks
gunfun 3,931
I haven't seen it, but you are going to want to look very closely at how that mounts up. The tab at the back of the handguard is thinner and a little higher on an S12 and obviously the barrel will need to clear. Also the S12 handguards I have modified from AKM had to be shaved about 1mm shorter in length, but perhaps a different retainer system would not require that.
s2324 0
GUNFun, I saw that KVAR sells this retainer, for there Saiga 12 handguards. https://www.k-var.com/shop/SG-338.html The Troy handguard mounts via pushing against the normal AK front handguard/sling retainer. There may be fitting issues. Does not look like anyone has tried it, not sure if I want to dump that amount of coil to find it does not work.

If I were doing one now, I would probably go with that or the dinzag one. It wasn't available when I did mine. The downside is that it would get in the way of my front block rails. Really the stupid screw tab on that should be made of pic rail and solve both problems. Instead they sell a chunky overpriced block of aluminum so you can mount all your gadgets in the wrong place on a heavy brick.
