XD45 7,124
Not sure if this is a sign of deeper problems or merely a bump in the road. I'd hate to see another American gun maker fold. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/06/25/ptr-industries-served-notice-on-past-due-rent/
csspecs 1,987
Meh, someone probably forgot to put it on auto pay.. $73k is not that much in the world of manufacturing.
evlblkwpnz 3,418
Locally, I have seen 3 HK rifles locally. One G36 clone, one Century abomination, and one MG (G3? I think). It just doesn't seem like demand for them would be very significant. I'd hate to know the success of my company depended on that platform's popularity.
frz1197 128
I have one of their .308 pistols (imagine a hk 91 draco). Fir and finish of the thing is good. It seemed like they knew what they were doing. Hopefully they don't go under.
XD45 7,124
With the market saturation overall, and the niche market of the HK design rifles to begin with, they may be in trouble. I can't imagine it was just a matter of an oversight. All speculation of course.
ShadowFire 220
Yeah, hope everything is alright. From what I keep hearing PTR makes really great HK style rifles, everyone that buys one seems to be quite happy with one.
evlblkwpnz 3,418
Maybe they are trying to make a statement.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg5SwyTvAHw
JDeko 792
You really like the look of their rifle, one of the wood ones is definitely on my list of ones I seriously want.
StealStick 17
Heard this isn't the first time for them......maybe they have management issues?
sjgusmc21 850
I have the carbine PTR with custom wood on it. I absolutely love the beast. Its a joy to shoot and accurate as crap. Just glad I don't have to hump it around though.
G O B 3,516
I hope they survive, but running a Company profitably and making a good product are completely DIFFERENT skill sets.
Garys4598 1,065
My PTR-32 carbine. Best friggen 7.62x39mm rifle that I own. (Well.... uhhhh.... it also happens to be the only 7.62x39 that I own ). Seriously though, one of my dearest buds has on multiple occasions reminded me that I have promised him this rifle, upon my departure from this plain of existence; he luvs the rifle that much.
pyzik 597
I hope they don't go anywhere. A .308 is on the want list.
sjgusmc21 850
Gary, that is on my to 'get' list. Very nice.
metalgodlb 30
It would indeed suck to lose them as a manufacturer. Not many U.S. Firearm companies are making "foreign" builds the we we like them. Like someone said though, making them right and running a business for profit are two different animals. Hope the best for them
storm6490 2,768
Just the way corporate whores do buisiness. The state wants them there to produce jobs, they get to slide on the rent and municipal utilities for a while. You would have your house taken away from you but companies that create jobs get a little better treatment. This should probably be filed under none of our fucking business. gunfun 3,931
You forgot the step where the state, county, city, whatever seized the land from private individuals using eminent domain, to offer it low rent to a company, so they could broaden their tax base. -- This is where the 5th ammendment takings clause could have used some better draftsmenship. It implies where it should state explicity. i.e. It should have read something like "Private land may not be taken except for direct public use, and then only for just compensation. "
horatio 515
Well I was at my local shop today and I definetly have to agree with sjmismc21. That thing was front end heavy as hell. Finish was nice though. I'd definetly consider a x39 down the line ( one was already in consideration, but it was like 35, not 3) Not going to take the front burner. But it does seem like a nice rifle. If I can get a 39 in a year or two ill grab it. If not, I'll survive.
JDeko 792
x51 is what I'm looking at since it would make a good hunting rifle [really I just always wanted a .308 and considered an S308 opposed to the S12 for my first gun, but I need to justify such things with some sort of practicality]. "Practicality". The S12 is NOT practical for most civvie purposes, but it is a helluva lot of fun. It needs no justification. .308 is a good round, but it can get expensive in a hurry. Despite which i have a very expensive AR10 piston clone and am considering a bolt action.
JDeko 792
For the price, the S12 probably isn't the most practical HD tool, I'd of gotten all I need from a Mossberg or Remington pump. In my opinion a 12ga is a pretty great defensive weapon though, much better than a .308 and that was decided it for me.
XD45 7,124
I was looking very hard at the x39 but I decided it's just too bulky for that cartridge. 9.5 pounds is out of the question for a 39. I won't even own a milled receiver AK because they're too heavy.

You can deal with a good number of zombies with drums full of 00 buck and slugs too. Great defensive weapon to protect your home and family. It throws a LOT of lead. Get off my lawn. saltydecimator 482
73k is alotta overhead, which translates into the cost o buying gun. Also, remember the "never pay until 3 mo overdue" moto of business?
