Sim_Player 1,939
I watched this while living in my grandparents house, in the 70's. Grandpa was a Kentucky Democrat and never missed it. The show, by todays standards, is very Conservative while having a fair discussion/satire of the social topics of their day. My grandpa had the same fast temper as Archy! When he said your name, you paid attention. (A strong male influence.) Damn, I miss him. sobrenegade 795
One of my favorite episodes was Archie's rebuttal to an editorial on gun control. Here's an exchange: Gloria: Do you know that sixty percent of all deaths in America are caused by guns? Archie Bunker: Would it make you feel any better, little girl, if they was pushed out of windows?
Sneak 81
I didn't have an appreciation for it until this year. I love that show. I'm really surprised it's on the air. Archie doesn't have a problem using the word 'fags'
RED333 1,025
Archy Bunker was not picky, he was prejudice against everyone, Said the GD word on TV
lumberman 116
One of the funniest shows ever.
Spikester 93
Archie was a Republican and the lib writers of the show tried to make him look like a buffoon because of it. Meathead and Gloria were big libs and hated conservatives. A lot of what Archie said was right but it was said to make fun of him for being a Conservative.
sobrenegade 795
Back in the day, I related to a lot of what Archie espoused. The bigotry was so off the wall it had to be satire.
Ronin38 2,117
I also loved the way he mangled the English language in his attempts to sound more smarter!

Meathead and Gloria were big libs and hated conservatives. A lot of what Archie said was right but it was said to make fun of him for being a Conservative. And the really funny irony in the show was that Meathead (like most Lib types) was a big freeloader.
El Cabron 91
In one episode Archer gave Gloria a great zinger. She and Meathead were thinking about joining a commune (California I think). Archie was grumbling about it, and said they shouldn't “live with a bunch of Communists!” Gloria responded “Daddy, they’re not Communists!”. Archie shot back that “People who live in communes are Comm-un-ists!!” A very historically accurate observation.
sjgusmc21 850
Loved the show....but loved Gloria even more! Hot, hot, hot. My father looked a great deal like Archie, and was just about as crude. My mother dressed just like her, hair style and all but was not even close to the way Edith was portrayed.
