boomka 40
I'd like a larger charging handle, nothing crazy, just a little bigger with good grip. Which ones work, which ones go flinging off into the hinterlands? Will the added mass affect cycling?
evlblkwpnz 3,418
I'd like a larger charging handle, nothing crazy, just a little bigger with good grip. Which ones work, which ones go flinging off into the hinterlands? You might look at that aluminum Tromix slip on. Easy to install and stays on if you use Loctite on the set screw. It has heavy knurling on it. I have been playing with one lately on a SBS and it looks like a good easy DIY option. Will the added mass affect cycling? It can. It really depends on how reliable the weapon already is, how much weight is added, and whether or not you lose the factory unit. Does it barely run well or is it nearly unstoppable? I don't find anything currently available to be particularly impressive, as in "Wow! Where has this been all of my adult life!", so I make my own to my specific needs for each weapon. I recently made one that is LH, adds almost nothing to the width of the weapon, allows charging and firing with a folded AK100, and it will not dig or poke the user when the weapon is slung or if they happen to fall on it. It is not abrasive, mostly snag free, but it is very hard to make the hand slip off of during use due to the shape. If you have decent fabricating skills just make one and weld it on. You might come up with a great idea. If it breaks or flies off, you will learn something about that too. I saw one fly off and pop a guy in the lip. It was done by a vendor who is no longer here. Shit does happen, but we always learn something from it. Edited July 26, 2015 by evlblkwpnz
gunfun 3,931
+1 There is also the lynch setup, which is kind of the best of everything, except for the interference with side mount optics.
sobrenegade 795
I added the Tromix charging handle to both of my S12s and as evil says, is an easy DIY option. Your bolt won't know it's there. After my last outing when it was time to clean, still as tight as the day I installed it. Worth the money, looks almost factory.

GUNFUN, YOU CAN MAKE A HYBRID SETUP BY TAKING THE L.I.N.C.H. TOP COVER, MILLING A HOLE IN THE TOP REAR OF IT, IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE PARABELLUM ARMAMENT TOP COVER, AND THEN MOUNTING THE PARABELLUM RAIL TO IT. I RECENTLY MOUNTED A L.I.N.C.H. UNIT ON A BUDS MICRO C39, AND IT WORKS GREAT. AS THE MICRO ALREADY HAS A SHORT RAIL, IN PLACE OF A REAR SIGHT, I JUST MOUNTED AN AIMPOINT THERE. JESS1344

Does he have it for Saiga 12 yet? I believe so. They are made from surplus Foldy FAL side handles. What he has to make from scratch is a longer dovetail track which matches the shoulder profile of the S12 dustcover. +1 There is also the lynch setup, which is kind of the best of everything, except for the interference with side mount optics. boomka 40
Does the L.I.N.C.H. give forward assist?
JESS1344 508
BOOMKA, NEGATIVE SIR, THAT'S WHY YOU DON'T CUT THE RIGHT HAND SIDE HANDLE OFF. ALTHOUGH, I SUPPOSE YOU COULD GET AN AK CRUDDY ENOUGH TO NEED TO GIVE IT A FORWARD ASSIST BUMP, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF IT HAPPENING, THOUGH IN COMBAT, ABOUT ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. A PRETTY SHARP OLD GERMAN GENERAL, NAMED VON CLAUSEWITZ, ONCE SAID SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF "WAR IS THE PROVINCE OF CHANCE". IN OTHER WORDS, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE; YOU HAVE BEEN SO ADVISED, AND CONDUCT YOURSELF ACCORDINGLY! JESS1344

evlblkwpnz 3,418
I wish it was that simple. That was pretty funny though
HB of CJ 1,263
Same answer. We have had great results with the Tromix bolt on handles.
