Garys4598 1,065
Yep.... sometimes I think I gotta be one of the biggest idiots when it comes to spending my hard-earned money on firearms..... [Here is the semi-short story version:] For approximately a little over a week, I've been deciding whether or not to purchase a VZ2008 rifle from the latest batch that has hit Century Arms distributors. I am well aware of CZECHPOINT-USA's product line, after spending a great deal of time researching everything I could read or watch on the internet. So, deciding this past weekend that I was going to buy a VZ2008 from Classic Firearms (whom I purchased my VEPR 54R from a little over a month ago)... Wouldn't you know that late Friday afternoon I received an email notification from CZECHPOINT that they had available a new batch of VZ.58's on their website for purchase. Like, wouldn't ya friggen know it?!?!?! Therefore, I was in a predicament and had to make a damned decision.... So, Gary being friggen Gary, come early Sunday afternoon (after having slept on it and mulled over it for two days).... I thought, "What the hell", and ordered the CZECHPOINT Item # vz58-005 which had all the friggen bells n' whistles. I received a notice from CZECHPOINT this afternoon that my payment had gone through, they had received my FFL Dealer info, and that they would be shipping tomorrow. They even provided me the UPS tracking number for the shipment. Yippie-ki-fucking-aye, right? Sa vz.58 in 7.62x39 is manufactured by Czech Small Arms - chrome lined 16.15 inch barrel with removable muzzle brake- high quality barrel manufactured by Lothar Walther in Germany- side rail installed, with permanent threadlocker, for use with optic mounts (optic mount not included)- semi gloss/matte black finish cured at 300 °F over phosphate- TactLite six position collapsible stock utilizing Mil-Spec extension tube with new production polymer injected pistol grip and upper and lower handguard - two 30 round magazines- CD containing manual and historical information- cleaning kit- sling- 5 year warranty Edited July 28, 2015 by Gary

Garys4598 1,065
(Finds himself wondering if you guys are as funny looking in person.... ) Regarding optics and sights, for now I've decided to keep the rifle light. I've ordered two different forward rail systems to try out: 1) Scout Industries VZ-58S Scout Mount, that provides a short piece of picatinny rail that mounts on top/around the rear sight block, and 2) CNC Warrior VZ58 Upper Handguard Rail, which replaces the OEM upper handguard on the rifle and is reportedly the lowest rail mounting option available for the rifle (also happens to be the Bonesteel Arms design/product offering). For an optic I will be going with a Trijicon RMR red dot, RM009 model which provides a 1 MOA dot size. I've already placed on order from the ATI website a TactLite Adjustable Cheekrest Kit, and one of their Scorpion Razorback Recoil Pad upgrades. Ahhhhhh.... I like to have 'options' when it comes to my prized possessions AND for heirloom sake. Lastly, I'll likely replace the FCG with the Bonesteel Arms VZ.58 offering. Presently, its reported to be the best available as an aftermarket drop-in. I happen to live near a guy who is a metal fabricator and VZ.58/VZ2008 rifle enthusiast, who has engineered a significant improvement for the VZ's trigger system, so.... I'll likely be paying him a visit during the next few months. Yep, that about accounts for everything, except for a few more magazines. There are a couple of aftermarket additions to consider: an extended and/or ambi magazine release, and an improved tactical bolt catch release.... but I'm not convinced yet that my rifle will need those doo-dads, especially the bolt release (since when does a quick tug on the bolt handle not suffice for releasing the bolt of a firearm?). . . I'm pretty-- I bet your camera's lens didn't survive that photo, now did it? The camera is fine. That's what it looks like ~24 hours after stopping a super duty and trailer with your face. Some people think I usually look better than that picture, but I don't wanna brag.
Garys4598 1,065
For the possible few that are not familiar with the SA VZ.58 Rifle (and it's VZ2008 clone), the following is a good vid (excluding the first minute and a half, during which Eric runs through the woods like a forest-ninja ) regarding the rifle's history and overall design. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5OTyPNw7nk Edited July 30, 2015 by Gary
