New slide melt for Burris FF3, by hand, project

Recommended Posts

Been wanting to try this for a while. Finally this planets aligned. Got the slide and barrel assy for like $160. Cz p07 40 cal. Runs on my 9mm frame.

I started out by drilling down to the aproximate depth that I thought it would sit. (level with the rear sight dovetail) Then I tried milling it Out with a mill that I have access to, but all the bits were all crap or dull or just wrong type of cutters, I don't know what the problem was. So then I ended up just free handing the cut out with a rotary file in a dotco grinder. What you boys think?

Haha.  i guess its better than nothing, but its a combo setup, so only lathe is decent, mill is lacking, according to skynet...

I'm workin on gettin the mount holes drilled and tapped.

notice not sitting flat, im gonna use the mill to precisely smooth it....i got most of that out now, and will bolt to gun, just want it to sit lower...

then again, the ff3 has a light sensor for an auto brightness mode, and if i take too much off, and sight sits lower will hide sensor and wont auto dark... decisions decisions....
