Bye bye .223.... for now

Recommended Posts

You had me worried for a second until I opened up the thread.

I like my long 20" for now but need to put some threads on the business end for whatever I decide to screw on the end.

Regardless, can't wait to see the finished product.

I'd love to have a 20"er to go along with this one.

Stripped her down and sent her off yesterday.  FINALLY!

Cutting the front sight at welding to the BG, chopping to 14.5 and welding the brake.

Already can't wait to get it back.

Just a heads up, if you're sending it to the same place you mentioned in an earlier thread, that's where I had mine done and I was quoted about 4 weeks but it took closer to 8.  However quality was great and I was charged less than originally quoted so I'm not complaining, just wanted let you know my experience.

I've heard expect longer than quoted wait times. :( worth the wait though I guess.

Funny, he did give me a lower number when I was there than on the phone.

are you sure you don't just want the smith to install a CR combo block?

CNC Warrior makes their extended 4-pc brake just for this setup.. You can pin the shell to the FSB and still access the muzzle for cleaning

I wanted to thread for an AR brake.  Everything I'd been looking at seemed like I was pretty much stuck with this option.

Update:
With Griffin Armament releasing the information on their new Optimus multi-cal suppressor, I purchased a Griffin taper mount brake to be installed rather than the Rainier Arms.

Luckily Ken hadn't started it so he's installing the new one.

However, HE'S STILL not started my gun.  sad.png
