mini14jac 1
Hey guys, Years ago I used this site to convert my Saiga. I've been very pleased with the results. Over 1800 rounds through the gun with no issues, but I have a question about the bullet guide. I got one from Dinzag when he was just starting out. Now, I'm surprised at how much wear the guide is showing. I assumed it was made from pretty hard steel, but it's wearing like aluminum. If you used a Dinzag bullet guide, how many rounds have you shot through the gun? Has yours worn significantly? Any feed issues? Thanks.
G O B 3,516
What you see is probably work hardening at the highest wear points. As long as it functions properly there is no problem.
GregM1 241
i have 2. probably around 500 rounds over each and both look good. just some scuffing. i got my first guide in 09. is holding up fine. your mags may sit lower in the front than mine. might be causing a harder impact with the guide. you could try to buff it smooth if you feel it is impeding the action. Sim_Player 1,939
I would call that "case-scraping". That's why I think that some are designed to bounce the nose (mine do this). You have to let the bolt fly! Slow loading might not bounce the nose. If no FTF, keep using it, until it does. Easy fix. Good luck! Edited November 29, 2015 by Sim_Player
imarangemaster 315
My last couple I got from CSS, but I think they get them from Danzig. I never noticed any where on mine, even shooting steel case ammo.
mini14jac 1
Well..... I figured I should post a pic so you could see what I was talking about. It had been a while since I had looked at the guide, but I remember thinking "It has wear on it." Either I don't remember stuff too well, or someone snuck in during the night and replaced my bullet guide. When I went to take a picture, there was hardly any wear at all!! Guess my memory is slipping. Big surprise. And I'm not having any feed issues at all. Edited December 1, 2015 by mini14jac
