Doctors Urged To Inquire About Gun Ownership

Recommended Posts

I don't like the direction this is taking.  I can see Obama seizing upon this practice and exploiting it with his agenda for gun control and/or confiscation.  I can see it now:  soon medical records will no longer be private but will be subject to government review to ensure "public safety".

This is not new, it has been going on for quite some time, beginning with the inception of "Obamacare". Back in the summer of 2014, when my doc asked, it was cleverly disguised as  part of normal conversation, "like do you still hunt?". I called him out on it, and he told me they are required to ask, as part of the "system" of computerized records. He & I go back a ways, and he already knew I own several, as we have discussed the topic before. Both my wife & daughter are in medical field, and they indicate it is a requirement and has been for some time.  The failure of the "system" to track mentally unstable individuals is being explained as the privacy of health records. Now that the libs have successfully installed a socialist medical system, is it really a surprise that they would use it to further other agendas? 1 way or another, they will create the national database of weapons ownership they so desperately want. They are patient, but focused. They have not lost sight of the objective, but continue to take these small, unobtrusive steps towards the time when everything is in place.

My personal Doc, who've I been seeing for 17yrs +/-, knows I'm a gun owner and carry.

Every other time I'm in for an appointment I have to lift or take off my shirt for exam, and I remove my holster and place it on my hat/shirt.

The only person in his office to ever balk was a new nurse, she was quickly educated.

My wife knows the answer to any Doc asking such questions, "NOYDB", cause in her purse is a .357mag.

Already happening.  It has happened already to me.  Had a minor right wrist problem (old FF injury) and had my new Obamanation insurance pay some of it for an exam and x ray.   When I got the co pay bill (a lot by the way) there was a questionnaire along with it that asked this very question.  "Do you or any of your household suffer from mental problems?  If no, go to question 13.  If yes go to questions 35-39.

"Does anybody in your household feel threatened?  By whom?  How often?  Are there firearms in the house?  How many? How are they kept?  Are they loaded?  Yep.  All true.  I tore up the questionnaire at that point.  The bill might be paid around 1 Dec.  Strange they did not ask about knives or tools, nor dope of any sort, nor socialist commie literature or horrible rap music or lots of other dangerous stuff.  Wow!

Most doctors out here work on cash now that Obama screwed us all over. No way in hell would any self respecting Doctor ask very personal questions about their clients private lives not related to their health. It would be like asking if you drove to the appointment in an automobile. Same fuckin risk.

Yep.  My family doctor of many years and I had this discussion among other subjects.  He told me he might have to shut down his family practice and just hire on with some HMO at a greatly reduced annual income.  We also talked about guns in the house.  Laughed.  Then we compared the .338 Win Mag vs the 7mm Mag as he was going Elk hunting for 3 weeks.  Great person and doctor.

Yeah at first I just replied Nunya.

Then I thought about it and my standard answer now is "why are you trying to sell me one?".

If they dont get the hint then blank stares may be fun.

In short have some fun but be clever. Makes fools uncomfortable as hell...

My doc never raises the subject with me , but it might  be because I let him and his buddy come duck hunting on Black Friday . They got 7 mallards called an thanked me said he had a blast , asked me if I wanted some , I told him no and come back anytime just give me a call.

We're friends with the kids' Dr.  I talked to her once about the questions she was asking and she said she found them too intrusive but, was required to ask.  Yes. the answers do go into a database, should one inquire.

She also was diligent enough to introduce me to the best child psychologist in our area, who is cash only, to avoid any potential issues with the peeping toms if we needed to do so.

So, should you trust your doctor?  No, not unless you know him/her on a personal level -- and perhaps, shoot with him/her from time to time.  I enjoy shooting with doctors; they have guns I would die to own.

I had my knee scoped a few weeks ago and that was one of the pre op questions..I look at the nurse and replied...It's none of your or Obama's damn business what's in my house. She immediately apologized. I have to ask the question was her response. She did mention that she would answer it the same way...I was asked this question before my 3 week old boy at the time went into surgery. My response was the same...He is 4 now. Nothing new here.

Time for a joke.  Years ago at the same Doctor's office I was scheduled for an annual type physical exam.  Routine.  The cute lady whom I had asked out before and whom had politely already said "no thank you"  asked if I was carrying a gun.  "Yes" I answered.  "I have a very big one."

She answered that the office girls had decided to enforce a "No Weapons Policy" in the office and that I would have to take my gun out to my car and leave it there.  Like Wolverine I answered "I Can't!"  She looked at me then started laughing out loud.  "Oh my Gawd", she giggled.  The end.

Still never dated her.  Oh well. smile.png

I was asked this question before my 3 week old boy at the time went into surgery.

Sorry to hear this, I hope he is doing well....  Best regards.....

He is a wide open 4yrd old boy now a days...he is doing just fine....matter of fact trying to keep up with him probably contributed to blowing my knee out...lol.....He had pyloric stenosis...which is quite common with newborns and it was fixed with a 30 min arthroscopic surgery. Thanks for asking!

These liberal cunts would destroy privacy and confidentiality laws along with their oath for the commie agenda. Here is more bullshit from a group we really need to keep an eye on.
