Sim_Player 1,939
I'm sick of hearing about black parents having to tell their kids how to behave around cops and white parents don't have to have that discussion. Growing up, my mom told us to treat the cops with respect and comply. In my teen years, I was always scrutinized because, of the crowds I (a white kid) ran with, white teen trouble-makers, likely to offend. I had more than my fair share of police encounters and court appearances and even had a police shotgun trained on me, once...we were shooting BB guns in the forest and someone called the police. Every event was minor but, could have gone bad very fast, if I responded the wrong way. Respect can keep you out of trouble with the law 9/10 times. gunfun 3,931
I guess so. I've been rousted frequently most of my life when in public places. I also get frequently asked to sell drugs. It doesn't matter how clean cut or scruffy I look at the time. I don't know why.
JDeko 792
I feel inaccurately categorized quite often, to build off the previous post people are often trying to sell me drugs in public restrooms at every school I went to.
DLT 1,646
Yes. More times than I care to remember. I've been questioned, detained, and who knows or remembers what the hell else. Every time, I kept my cool, showed my hands, answered the questions (regardless of how stupid they were) and let time diffuse the situation rather than getting impatient with an impatient cop or cops. Spacehog 2,218
Absolutely. According to the current political winds, I am a privedged white middle aged racist, xenophobe (new one I just got labeled in the last few weeks), chauvinist, homophobe, hater of the poor, unenlightened denier, woman hater, who bitterly clings to his guns and bible. None of it true except for the guns and bible thing.
termite 463
Used to get it ALL the time, had a pony tail down to my ass. After my daddy had his stroke, I told him that I would only get a hair cut if he'd get up and learn to walk again, SO, it grew really long. Cops used to screw with me every day on the way home from work, I drove and old beater Ford truck and took the short cut thru the not so nice side of town. After a while, I got to enjoy busting their balls when they'd stop me, but when daddy started to walk with his walker, I did startle the hell out of him that day when I walked into the house and looked "human". poolingmyignorance 2,191
Every god damn time I fly international. I come back and I get pulled aside and asked a million fucking questions about where I was , why, and how long. Yea I'm a young looking white guy who flies to 3rd world places business and for short periods of time. You would think how ever all the damn X-rays, nudie scans and fucking dogs would tell them I'm not smuggling drugs... but no. They want me to come to the room and search my bags in front of me..... Do I scream racism? No...wouldn't do any good..can't be racist against white guys never mind the fact that over 65% of the TSA are black... guess that's not part of the issue.
