defcon 21
is there an adapter where i can go back to wood furniture after cutting off the rear tang?
Sim_Player 1,939
Rivetting a new rear trunnion is my only fix.
Mullet Man 2,114
You can install an AR buffer tube adapter and purchase a wood AR butt stock (Google search). Or possibly install a Tromix style flat plate and do some fancy wood working so you can bolt a traditional wood stock to it. But short of riveting in a new fixed stock rear trunnion, you're pretty well fucked.
Spacehog 2,218
One option that will allow you to swap back and forth. Will require some DIY though: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/95598-final-mod-for-my-saiga-12-full-wood/
mini14jac 1
I was in the same situation. Ended up getting a AK74 rear trunion from AKbuilder.com. Grinding/drilling the old rivets out was a real pain. Ended up scarring up my receiver. Looks OK now with the Russian Red wood, but I really wish I had never cut that tang. SHOTGUN MESIAH 855
fabricate a new tang and tig weld it back on ^ you must have had to work your little monkey brain overtime to come up with that conclusion..
james lambert 3,059
The most rudimentary tools..hack saw file drill...can replicate the tang Surly a shop near by would have a MIG or TIG welder, ten seconds of welding cant cost much

semper299 284
I may get tarred and feathered for saying this, but you don't need the tang to put wood on. Yes, the tang offers structural support, but the stock will fit and hold just fine without the tang. Slide the stock in, screw it down and shoot it. It ain't going anywhere.
