...after six months in an outdoor space.

I had stripped and refinished the body and slide with cheap BBQ paint.

The only rust is in a place that missed oil many times.

It's going to get stripped, in the spring, and refinished.

The plastic grip may get replaced, too.

It appears to be an IJ70, with either -17A for .380acp or -18A for 9mm.

That would be 9mm Makarov (usually). There are some Makarovs that have been converted to shoot 9mm. The vast majority are 9mm Mak, some .380, and very few 9mm.

9mm Kurz = 9mm Short = .380 ACP

So your caliber case is a little bit longer than .380?  I think there are several outfits making nasty hollow point reloads or factory ammo for your Russian special.  Might also make a decent SHTF (shit hits the fan) piece to stick into your mundane 5 to 7 day summer hot dry wildfire evac bag.  If somebody steals part or all of your bag, you do not have that much invested in it unlike a very nice S12.  We don't. Just me.

Nice.  I had one of those IJ-70's years ago, and stupidly sold it.  It actually had less recoil than my bud's Walther PPK.

The IJ-70 only came in 9x18 MAK and .380.  The 9mm NATO were custom shop guns.

ETA:  the original finish was a hot blue job.  If you google around, there is a stump remover you can heat up and use to re-blue metal.
