Need short top rail for Saiga 12

Recommended Posts

I am brand new here and brand new owner of a new Saiga 12. I got lucky and got one that feeds everything, even low brass. The trigger is also excellent. I was going to convert that first but don't even want to mess with that. I have searched here and elsewhere and read of way too many problems with the various rails available. All I want to do is mount a Surefire X400 on top and want absolutely no adverse effect on function. Looking at the CSS short rail. Any opinions good or bad? I apologize if I am digging up a subject that has been knocked around too much already. Thanks in advance. What a great Forum!!

CAn't remember if Horse is a vendor or here not, so I'll link to an article about the product that does what you want.

I assume you are sticking the light on the top of the barrel in front of the gas block. This would do that. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/12/22/rs-regulate-shotgun-light-mounts/

p.s. Welcome.

Been trying links on desktop with Chrome. Just tried on my droid phone Chrome and I still can't open that link. IDK. I did find the RS Regulator but all are mounted on side not on top. Can I mount that rail on top with my Surefire X400? I have had unresolved sight axis problems on AR's trying to mount lasers on bottom and side rails. I do see activation much easier with side orientation

And thanks again for the help!!

The RS regulate product we were referring to clamps onto the barrel. You can put it on top of the barrel in front of the gas block or 90* to the left so that your thumb naturally rests right on the light button. Cheapo UTG barrel clamping rail things move under recoil and weigh too much.
