Smoking cannabis ALTERS your DNA 'causing mutations that can trigg

Recommended Posts

I find it odd that people sit there and debate if marijuana is "good for you" or "bad for you"

We know marijuana isn't "good for you" - neither is alcohol, fast food, or listening to Bjork.

I can think of plenty of ill effect of marijuana. Laziness, lack of motivation, maybe lung cancer and reduced stamina after many years of smoking on a regular basis.

However, does something that makes someone, at worst, sit around all day playing video games and eating Cup Noodles warrant making it illegal?

Does it make it worth spending billions of dollars of taxpayer money and countless hours of police time enforcing laws against it? Does it make it worth incarcerating people?

Let the punishment fit the crime. Personally, I think there's a lot better things police could be doing than chasing after stoners.

Personally, I'd rather smoke meat.

I just can't believe a member of THIS forum would post a topic with the INTENTION of "stirring up the pot" .   I'm aghast! Will someone please point me to the safe space?   Funny Fuckers.

My point wasn't to debate the findings, it was to illustrate how we accept one risk above another simply based on arbitrary dictate. You have no moral issue nor attach no social stigma to users of mi

It is your choice to smoke or not. I really don't care one way or the other, it is your life, but I can say unequivocally, it makes you stupid and slow. I can pick out a recreational pot smoker with a simple 10 minute conversation just from their speech even if they haven't smoked the day in question. I can't say the same for a sober alcoholic. Marijuana does something to the brain long term that alcohol does not. It is not the same as alcohol in recreational use. In addictive use, there is no difference between a drug addict and an alcoholic. Multiple personal experiences have convinced me of this. So don't tell me social pot use is the same as social alcohol use. I embrace the freedom, just don't expect me to embrace the cause. I would never hire someone whom I suspects uses period.

All I know is a person who drinks to excess the night before work smells like BO and barf and the one who smokes weed still has a goof going on.

Both are dangerous and not worth a shit.

Both are dangerous and not worth a shit.

And both are relatively harmless when used responsibly. Addiction and dependence are complex and terrible issues but neither are exclusive to either substance.

Though I do disagree that pot has that effect on all recreational users. I know some that are stereotype "Tommy Chong" and others that are superior athletes and professionals. So like alcohol, pot, prescription, food, sex, porn... your results my vary.

Well, in the pool industry we kind of have to take what we can get in regards to the employees of our subs. More often than not they are weed smokers. Generally, I like to give a good look in the eye of the lead guy when I meet them and say, "If you need to take a break, go for a ride and don't take that type of break on my jobsite. Do you understand?". They always have that deer in the headlights look for a second and then confirm. I'd rather my customer pull up on the jobsite with no one there working than with people in the backyard smoking weed. It is a lot easier to explain.... "they must be taking a break", lol. My main hopes are that they do the more difficult tasks before break time and don't do anything dangerous after break. I really don't care what people do with their money and mind as long as I am not forced to participate and as long as it doesn't effect my wallet.

We have a noon coffee crowd at our non august local diner and lots of times the topic of conversation is small business owners trying to cope with the present day recreational pot smokers.  Most if not all of the employers are asking for pre employment drug testing and nobody can pass the tests.  Nobody.  Well, make that very few.  Us old Coots and others who are clean are always getting job offers.  Makes one feel good.

"Drug-free Union" anyone? You could name your wage and they would have to hire you due to manpower crunch. Extreme job security. Flip side would be obscene amounts of work you'd have to do. In a few years and several retirements I'm gonna be a high-dollar resource.

Tell me why a stoner can't deliver pizza? Or stock shelves?

You can snort coke and look down from a 30th story window on Wall Street just fine, it seems.

Companies that drug test for low end, manual labor, minimum wage jobs are just wasting their money.

use to have a saying when I was a 463X0:

"when the bomb goes off, make sure you're higher than the bomb."

but I don't know if that would be skilled/sensitive labor.023.gif

Smoked for years as a teen.

It became less appealing and addictive as time went on.

Age seems to stem THC dependency. There is also a social aspect that most people overlook.

Being married and having two grown kids, now that it's legal, where I live, I don't even care.

Everything in moderation.

I saw a stoned guy tonight at the local store

, inquisitive but, glazed.

Not the way I'd want my kids to see me, or be seen in public.

It's all about policy.

I worked at a refinery as consulting engineer in Kentucky. When I got there they had security meet me and escort me to the test lab. I get to the desk, fill out paper work, and the lab tech looks at it and says "Oh your supervising engineer, you don't have yo submit a sample. Only workers do. "

Funny though cause of I make a mistake the entire fire suppression capabilities might be compromised costing how much life and money...but I'm not likely to smash my finger so it's cool off I don't test.

Policy is funny someplaces

It's "legal" in my state, and I'll occasionally use it. It's currently being grown and sold within the state, no Mexican cartels involved.

Is it still illegal per federal code? Yeah, you bet. Don't care.

By the same token, if WA were a "firearms freedom" state, I would have all sorts of cool toys with no stamps attached, and I wouldn't care less what the feds thought about that.

Freedom, how does it work?

Not to mention, it's a lot higher quality than the Mexican dirt bricks or the "sour diesel" every loser in the northeast claims to be selling.

And thereby negates the whole " you don't know what it's sprayed with" argument proposed by people who chug fireball whiskey knowing all well and good it's cut with glycol, yes literally anti freeze.

I have no use for stoners or drunks, wont hire them, wont do business with them.

Wont piss on them if they were on fire

Such a good Christian.

We're all sinners. None of us are perfect.

Personally, I'd rather smoke meat.

Looks pretty good. Got any large pics of the whole smoker?

(I like building them)

It's a Masterbuilt Pro Dual fuel. I run it with propane and I made a cast iron pan to put whole chunks in instead of chips, in place of the slottted chip/charcoal pan that came with it. The smoke stays very even for 2 hours instead of 45 minutes. 5-6 golfball sized chunks at a time is what I've found to be the perfect level of smoke.

Here's my late grandfather's cold smoker. We My brother still uses it it for his Christmas ham. He likes that tradition, I suppose. The stove is an antique coal stove from a caboose. it's perfect for cob smoking.
