sparky63 46
Is the length to the end of the flash hider or the threads
Heartbreaker 1,085
Overall length is from breechface to the end of the barrel, or end of any permanently attached muzzle device. DO NOT go under 18" without the proper paperwork. So you could have a 16" barrel with a 2" flash holder welded on and it would be legal.
XD45 7,124
Be aware that by law if you cut the barrel less than 18 and then immediately weld a brake to the barrel you have still made an illegal sbs. I don't believe anybody has ever been prosecuted for this I seriously doubt anybody ever will unless they are stupid and live stream it on the internet while they're cutting the barrel.

Sim_Player 1,939
I guess you could remove the barrel, cut it, weld it, reinstall, and refinish. But, you could still be accused of "constructive possession", after you cut the barrel. Damn, big government sucks! Just need to find a way to weld the flash-hider and then cut the barrel, lol!
