dinzag 31
Hi, i need some help.I would to change the wood on the gas tube of my akm because the wood is not very nice, i have a brand new wooden laminated piece but i dont know how to change it. Thank you. Spray some lube in on the spring between the hg & gas tube. Firmly hold furniture with one hand and put a crescent wrench on the locking end. Turn hg 180 degrees. Be careful not to crack either hg when doing this.
IndyArms 10,186
CORRECT.... The wood will TWIST OUT of the retainers on the gas tube. it will rotate 180 degrees around... and then drop out. Installation is the reverse... set it in the gap and rotate into position.. As Dinzag stated... BE GENTLE!!! you CAN crack/split the wood in doing this. Take your time, work slow... it WILL come out relatively easily if you are patient. okie shooter 0
Yes don't get too heavy handed, They are actually easier to take apart on cosomolined kits or some of the plastics, the wood can be brittle and break. If you can put the locking end in a vice with something to help protect the finish and use your hands on the wood, everything stays a little more stable that way.
