What are factory spec ammo for a vepr12

I have a vepr 12 and i was wondering what is a good type of ammo to put through my shotgun

I've had a lot of issues with my IZ-433 [what the Vepr was based off]. Never had trouble with Winchester Super-X 00 Buck or slugs. Really, any high-brass WSX load runs like clockwork in my shotgun.

When I got my V12 a few years ago (wood stock model) I took it to the range with 4 different boxes of ammo, of different strengths. (link) Results: link   

I don't know if I got a lucky one, or if they all are that good. I started with 1 mag of the Premier Nitro's, then the AA's, then the Gun Club, and finally federal bulk. All worked flawless, no failures of any kind. I did take apart my V12 and clean it before the range, as it was quite oiled up for preservation. Didn't do any polishing or profiling until later.

As far as the title of your post, there is not really a good answer. The instruction manual says, in poorly translated Russian: 

 

“For firing from the shotgun hunting cartridges of 12-gauge with non-metallic cartridge-case up to 76mm(3”) in length should be used, weight of a shot in the cartridge is not less than 32 grams, the maximum pressure of the powder gases in the chamber should not exceed 90Mpa”

 

Which is an extremely generic, vague statement.

 

Every Vepr 12 is different. You will be well off to take it to the range with a sampling of types of varied dram equivalence, and go from high powered to low and see where you bottom out.
