Heartbreaker 1,085
So I'm getting a S&W M&P9C for concealed carry. I can get black or fde for the same price so I wondered what you guys think. Black: because it's a defensive gun and should be basic and stealthy. FDE: because it's different and looks cool. So have at it
patriot 7,197
Don't worry about color. Worry about performance, availability and price. That's it. You don't have to match your purse and your shoes. ...but if you must...black goes with everything. Edited April 15, 2017 by patriot

You don't have to match your purse and your shoes. I've already done my research on those. I know the color is superfluous.

Doug Hartley 526
CCW or Bar-B-Q gun, depends on what you want. I like stainless for guns that will touch skin a lot. If you want to impress folks buy something shiny! Doug
Capt Nemo 882
Stainless makes the gun look bigger! Black shrinks it.
evlblkwpnz 3,418
The less the weapon catches the eye the greater the element of surprise. You should have the upper hand before the weapon is noticed whether you have to fire or simply present it. That's how I view it, black.
TheDeacon 168
Well, basic black does match everything.
HB of CJ 1,263
We have tan and black CC holsters. CrossBreed inside the pants paddle SuperTucks. With Duracoat and other finishes one can make the carry piece any color he wants. Krylon semi gloss spray paint works also.
XD45 7,124
Most people expect a handgun to be either black or stainless. If it's not one of those colors, a bad guy may take a second to realize the thing in your hand is a gun. For that reason a FDE carry gun might be a good choice. Or... Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

gunfun 3,931
Why not grey? It doesn't clash with anything, and it doesn't yell "gun" like FDE. Emphatic +1 to green for the laser color. It is dramatically more visible in any lighting condition.

I think it would depend on what the perp has seen in movies and TV lately. Why not grey? It doesn't clash with anything, and it doesn't yell "gun" like FDE. Emphatic +1 to green for the laser color. mixednuttz 123
I think you're over thinking about this. I'd buy whatever color you find aesthetically pleasing. Ideally, no one is going to see your CCW pistol. It's concealed. If it comes down to you having to use it, the bad guy won't notice one color over the other.

Looks like black is the color-coordinated way to go. Besides, right now, FDE is hot, but black is always cool.

sjgusmc21 850
I would go stainless because of less wear and tear on the guns finish. But, I carry both black and stainless, so as long as it is comfortable, and it will go bang when I pull the trigger, don't really care.
evlblkwpnz 3,418
There she is. An Apex Carry/duty kit with flat bow (flat'ish, lol) will yield a very impressive trigger feel on that.
