jerry52 893
I have decided to scale down and go with a cheaper rifle. So I will be getting in the future a 308 Thompson Center 5 R rifled 1:10 twist with threaded barrel at Bass Pro $379. Let's face it I am not going to run all over the place shooting long ranges when the wife's health is not getting any better. No! 100 yards will be fine with reloads. May go deer hunting some time in the future but I doubt it. Just to plink is what I want to do as August 18 I will semi retire. I have looked at Remmington, Ruger, Mossburg,Savage , Winchester and a few others and come to pick Compass. Guns prices are dropping so it could be less as I am on the look. jerry52 893
Woodbury Outfiters dropped the price of Thompson Center rifles and also gave a additional 10% off price as well. With free shipping it is on its way $ 277.00 Boom!. And the build begins.
jerry52 893
Well the rifle came and so far it does not look bad at all with exception of the poly stock touching the barrel on one side. I will check with the factory to see if taking off some material will cause warranty problems. Nice trigger, very nice. 4x14 mildot FFP scope comming as well as the awesome HR Tach S-7 varmit comp. Lee 308 Win dies are here with trimmer die. It has 1:12 twist as I wanted . Starting to look at options on what weight bullet to shoot. I do want to try 110 gr SSTs and all the way out to 208 gr SST. Barrel is 22 in so we will see ,I just do not know what to expect with this 5 R rifling. They say 1 MOA with this gun but with reloading and a few tweaks maybe better.
IndyArms 10,186
I'll bet 168 will be around the standard fare it REALLY likes... But who knows...shoot a little of everything and see what it groups...
jerry52 893
168 fed premium is what I will start out with. Decided to float and bed the stock to tighten and beef it up, no problem. Barrel resonator is also on the way. Like I said its a fun build. And I need fun. Looking for brass right now.
