G O B 3,516
We have gotten about 5" of rain already, and more to come for the next several days. NOTHING ends a drought like parking a HURRICANE over it!
Capt Nemo 882
But how much is really soaking in?
patriot 7,197
Hopefully it'll wash out some of the hood rats that moved in from New Orleans.
Sim_Player 1,939
Hopefully it'll wash out some of the hood rats that moved in from New Orleans.Democrats migrated to Texas after Katrina, I'm shocked. They must have felt like they were given a gift. Edited August 27, 2017 by Sim_Player
sjgusmc21 850
Those Rats are firmly entrenched and probably not going anywhere. However, the rain is GREAT and it has been a good test for my new patio. Had a 'tropical storm' cook-out with the family yesterday afternoon and just had a blast. Man, I miss those 'Typhoon' parties in Okinawa!
G O B 3,516
Rain is soaking in very nicely! The limestone here absorbs water for hours before there is much runoff. Lost a few dead or sick branches on a few of the Red Oaks, but all is well. Prayers for the poor bastards SOUTH of here, If it keeps raining there like it has been, the Gulf of Mexico will begin just north of Houston!
Squeaky 135
Incredibly, we've had just barely more than 1/2" of rain in the gauge where I live. It's been a good, soaking rain for us. There's been more wind than anything else.
Ronin38 2,117
Yeah, I think San Antonio is going to be beach-front property for a while after this...
vulcan16 971
About 20 inches in the past 2 days here. Thank God the wind is blowing the right direction and straight down the street.
sjgusmc21 850
I live on 281 North, east side off of Bulverde Road, 8 miles from 1604. I don't know how much rain we got, but it was enough. No flooding, but again, we live in the Hill Country area, so no big deal. Lots of wind, but certainly not tropical storm material. I really feel bad for those on the coast and in Houston and its surrounding counties. God be with them. I would say we are lucky, but I bought my home where I did for a reason.
G O B 3,516
Looks like 8-10" here, but no problems. Love this Hill Country.
Machinist 150
Great to hear good news from the forum members living in the great state of Texas!
Spacehog 2,218
You guys stay safe. Looks like there is plenty more coming.
DLT 1,646
Guys, I'm asking for prayers for the poor folks in Houston. My sister is currently safe, but stuck on an island in the north central area just outside the loop. Two blocks in any direction is as far as she can go. I'm really praying this lets up soon. evlblkwpnz 3,418
Hopefully, the good people of the affected areas are well armed and ready to protect themselves and property. I've been hoping to not see bad news like we saw in Katrina.
Ronin38 2,117
More bad news, the Addick Dam is overtopping with water now. https://www.google.com/maps/@29.7830174,-95.6304341,22517m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en
