Porting for Mid-Barrel Comp.
SCBOWLES replied to SaigaNoobie's topic in The Competitor's Corner / TEAM SAIGA
I have faith that if you can drill all the holes for the brake, then you can also do a little tuning inorder to get things to work properly. -
How much velocity is lost by mid-barrel porting?
SCBOWLES replied to unusedusername's topic in Saiga-12
I chroned mine and found a 20 fps difference. this is also within error so I would say dont,t worry about. Shotgun poweder burns very fast and seems to reach max velocity before it hits the brake. I'll try and find my printout. -
the video is close however then piston only unlocks the bolt, the brass casing is then driven rear ward against the bolt buy the expanding charge. instead of the bolt pulling the brass case out of the chamber.

Porting for Mid-Barrel Comp.

hey guys I have a dreadnought mid barrel brake on my saiga 12. The recoil is less than my fathers 20 guage remington 870 with knox recoil reducing stock. both firing slugs. I drilled 15 1/8 inch holes on 1/4 centers, 3 rows of 5 of each side. Also I used a combo mill drill bit. it left no bur on the inside to clean up, perfect hole. You can tune the brake slightly depending on where you orient the brake in relation to the holes. For use with the MD drum I had to open up the #2 gas port on the gas fixer plug. (for use with slugs) pictures below. -
Hey guys just a reminder there are good cops and bad cops good doctors bad docs. mechanics that will rip you off in an instant, others that are very honest. politicians that are dishonest and politicians that haven't been caught yet, the list goes on. its an imperfect world but the us is still the best place to live. So lighten up a little. Its not police officers that bother me nearly as much as security guards running around with law enforcement written across their backs. I have spoken to a few and they were not even off duty cops. however I will leave that for a different thread

12ga ballistics article leaves me questioning shotgun practicality
SCBOWLES replied to man-at-arms's topic in Saiga-12
shot guns are for close range use . espically when using shot yes even buck shot. I personally would not use slugs at distances greater than 50 to maybe 75 yards . Cool articles thanks for the link. -
hey all LEO in georgia be nice to the guy in the black dodge dually. He really is a decent guy trust me.

Hey guys if you are using slugs and paper targets ate 25 yards or less remember that dam wad is also going to put a hole in the paper. I usually get two hole per shot However I once got 3 three. so that can make things a little weird.

This just goes to show that we need more firepower... Just kidding

With a 1/2 ton you do not want a locker. easiest would be the before mentioned entire rear end assembly swap. from a salvaged vechile. I have used junkyarddog.com in the past however I would try local yards first as shipping costs may be a little high from out of state yards. -
