  1. I bought 5 Combloc steel mags from AIM for $9.95 each. They threw in a leather mag shoulder bag as a bonus. I used these mags on Saturday with my brand new SGL21. No problems. Everything worked as expected. The first pic is 10 rounds at 25 yds. The second pic is 30 rounds at 25 yards. Both were for sighting in with open sights. The rifle required no adjustment and shot right on target. At 50 yards, my spread moved out to 6", but that's OK for me. Next trip will focus on 100 yards. This is a great rifle... and a great price.
  2. I called LaRue... 4 month wait. Did you have to pay up-front to be on the waiting list?

  4. Google "Interarms Tantal". There are more than a few outlets. Don't mistake the Interarms for the Century models. The Polish Tantals also have the selector switch on the left side of the receiver.
  5. That's a "let's stick a Tantal muzzle brake on a regular 5.45 kit and call it a Tantal" build. As has been said, "have fun with it". There's more to it than "let's stick a tantal muzzle brake..." Any idiot knows the gas system is entirely different.
  6. Hey Ted, nice conversion! I have the same forearm as you and have enjoyed it thus far. Can you post and let us know what you think of your ATN sight once you get it dialed in? I'm considering one of those and was wondering how it would perform on an AK. Thanks! I've put about 200 rounds through the rifle with the ATN sight and it works very well. Once I zeroed it in, it worked like a charm. Obviously, the dot at 100 yards is about 6-8" wide on the target, but I was able to keep all my shots in the 9 ring or better on a 100 yard Palma target. So far, so good.
  7. I learned a great deal on this site and the Saiga conversion experience was exceptional. But, the more research I did, the more I decided that the 5.45 fits my requirements better than the 7.62. I'm sure I'll own another Saiga... someday.
  8. Damn dude, what's with bumping all the 1-year old threads? Like a dummy, I actually went to Atlantic's site and tried to find the $849 AK103s.
  9. I ordered, and expect delivery soon, of a sling made from ParaCord. At 54" X 1.5" there will be plenty of survival cord if necessary. It will have quick-release snaps on each end, and it will be non-adjustable. Total cost" $33.00 That's hard to beat. I will post some photos when I receive the sling.
  10. You're absolutely right. When I bought the Saiga, I rationalized ALL the reasons to leave it as it was. Then I started reading this forum. After you remove the first rivet, you're committed. It wasn't hard and nothing was ruined. Like the wise man said... we have nothing to fear but fear itself.
  11. I keep my "bag" in the trunk of my car at all times, along with 1k of ammo. As matter of fact, I found a nice sewing kit that I added to it yesterday. Between hurricanes and the unknown, it's a little piece of mind.
  12. If you Google various "survival" terms, the SAS manual shows up often. Good information.
  13. The handguard works fine. You don't have to attach the rail. I place my hand behind the rail and in front of the magazine. It cost less than $45.
  14. The "Infidel" on the stock is applied. I then sprayed a few coats of matte clear to seal it. I got it from the Gabe Suarez site.
  15. Since a big reason for my rifle's existence is survival, I put my magazines to additional use. As you can see in the photos, I now have 25 feet of multi-purpose para-cord with each of my 30 round magazines. To use it, I just slide the base cover off and pull off the para-cord. Who knows if I'll ever use it, but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead. The para-cord is about 10 cents a foot and it's very strong for just about every need you could come up with. I just thought I'd share it with the group.
