  1. Yes in my opinion the red star trigger is worth the extra money its fully adjustable and it drops in with no mods to the trigger group unlike the G2. I did have to remove a small notch from the safety lever to get it in though. So they both require a little modifying but the adjustability of the RSA trigger is leaps and bounds over the G2. Either are leaps and bounds over the stock trigger. IMHO Manta
  2. I have had mine apart several times and it's a booger to get out especialy the first time I'm arround all weekend I can show you if you need to see it done give me a hollar and ya I left the bolt in it one time too while trying to remove it
  3. Hey their fellow fargonian as soon as it warms up Ill be out at Casselton too blasting away, Brian at maple creek sports has the best price on wolf/silverbare. I too was going to make a saiganov and went another way so I have a wood buttstock lying around give me a holler and we will go blastin, I got a new pistol to test out too. Hears a little gun porn. manta
  4. hey Indy what do you think about that barska? and wich one do you have? I've had 2 of the ncstar 3-9x42 (they swaped out the first) and they have broken from the recoil of my 308, (I dident think a 308 kicked that much) ) and the barska was one of the ones i was looking at getting. any opinions would be helpfull Thanks Indy and to all others for the vast ammount of info on this board manta
  5. Hail to the guinea pigs! Thanks guys. And to O.S.O.K. (FN mags mod'ed to fit S-308) its on page 2 in the 308 section. I started by attaching them to the bottom of the saiga factory mags and after braking one I just decided to fit them to my gun and there is another guy in there who is doing it without a welder by folding it a certain way

    308 optics

Hello I was wondering if anyone new of any resonably priced compact rifle scopes? I have a NCStar 3-9x42 I like the way it looks and all its options but i dont like its quality, cross hairs, and eye relief. Am I stuck with this quality of a scope do to the fact i dont wana pay more for a scope than i did for the gun or is there something else out there that wont make me take out a loan to get it? Thanks for ALL the info on this site it has been a big help sence my Saiga 308 purchase 200 yards, 8.5x11.5 paper target, (printed outa printer) crappy scope, $300.00 gun, bad shooter, and a 5
  7. for me the final sideways fit, I ad whatever piece im using on the side then I grab my 4" hand grinder and go at it until its close then do the fine work with a dremel or hand files. On the welder it was a lincolin 100 flux core 120v It had 4 power settings I used the 2nd one surprisingley, and i dont rember the feed rate sorry, I couldent run a bead or anything but little tack welds end to end worked great. and a picture for the measurement question ( leaves less room for interpertation )
  8. here is a couple of pics of the feed lips (please excuse the crappy pics my camera is very old)
  9. with the feed lips I understand what your talking about and I wish I had a special trick on that one but i dont, try to make sure the magwell is'ent squishing the mag to much when its in making you remove more than needed. I messed up 2 mags before i got my first one to work
  10. ya its a screw in the front lip sorry my spelling is bad and my typing is even worse
  11. Thanks AK-tre08 and 17rds in my kimber I see some research needs to be done, thanks for that info! HextorMachine its a little tricky to get the bolt to go through there and still hold everything in. the top lip that holds the front of the follower down is rounded abit a couple of taps with a small hammer took care of that then its fileing a very small ammout at a time until you get it through. one of the smallest things but a very important one is the little scrue in the front of the fal mag clip it allowes me to raise the fal mag so the bullet needs no guide it goes strait out of the mag
  12. yup your right about # 3 sorry forgot that point, and on # 2 a 9/16 socket fits in the bottom of the mag and slides up to whare i smashed the sides in, this allowes me to not deform the mags. I fought with the metric followers and gave up, the inch ones work good. if you have any questions let me know. I know they will work i was at the range today and shot 40rds outa each with no problems. and i like the look better than the stock mags, just my opinion thow
