  1. Thanks for the clarification! That's what I thought, but better to ask and know for sure than just go ahead and do something that'll get ya in trouble.
  2. That's right. Man's best friend.
  3. That sucks, but you're probably right ClassyK, it's likely about liability. I worked at a motorcycle dealership, and SO many decisions were heavily influenced by liability issues. That's the culture nowdays. If anything happens, the lawyers start circling like vultures. Here's a typical example: A guy came in to get his bike serviced. He acted like some sort of bigshot, and was mouthy. So, we threw him out. Never saw him again, until.... He was riding his bike early one Saturday morning on a windy frontage road. A few people saw him tearing down the road passing on both the right and left
  4. With the loose tolerances, oil on an AK type rifle isn't going to do much. There isn't anything to keep it in place, unlike a tighter mechanism like an AR. What I've always used is a good high temp grease, and when I saw the AGI vid, and then ATAC-TV's vids, I was pleased the find out that I'm not the only one. I've always used whatever cleaner I happen to have, even Simple Green, or brake cleaner in a pinch. I started using an expensive name brand grease type gunlube. But then, again in a pinch (I always clean after shooting, even if I'm not at home) the only thing I could come up with was br
  5. Yikes!!!! I was hoping to avoid that, but I think that's probably what I'll do. Like I said above, I'm a packrat. So, if'n I cut it front to back on the bottom, maybe I can use it to make a FSB/GB for a future project. Thanks for all your advice guys! I'm just trying to get things ready. I've got an order from Dinzag coming. I went with a new FSB instead of threading so I can have an "accessory lug". Besides, I also wanted the 74 style muzzle brake. Bad back, so I'm doing what I can to minimize recoil. Doing the full conversion, and I can't wait. To keep busy while I wait for my order I am t

Noooo, she wasn't. The family wanted the pic, so I had to bribe the heck outta her
  7. The Tapco G2 is a good trigger, easy to use. Just drops in if you don't want to use the BHO. If you do want to use the BHO, all you have to do is grind, file, or sand one side of the base of the hammer. This might not make sense, until you get the parts in hand, and can compare to the ones you take out of your rifle.Very easy to do. The hardest part of reusing the BHO is getting the damn spring in!!! There is a tutorial for doing that here: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=48828&st=0&p=453459&hl="BHO%20install"&fromsearch=1entry453459 I would bet with a little p
  8. Indeed, most of this stuff is pretty simple, and it sounds like you have an outstanding support system!!! Good luck and don't forget to post pix when you are done
  9. Nice! An excuse to go buy a BIGGER hammer!
  10. You NEED to read this http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=32194 Did I mention NEED? If you start changing parts, you MUST make sure you comply with 922. I'm pretty new here, but so far I've noticed everyone here takes this stuff seriously. And ya should. I got in a little trouble when I was a kid, and it almost screwed up my entire life. Don't mess with gun laws. As far as conversions, you haven't really said how confident you are with tools. I've seen a few articles about doing an AK-100 type stock. It looks pretty involved, but doable if you are good with your hands and have a
  11. I haven't tried drilling yet. My drill press is stuck in a corner and is gunna be a PAIN to use for this. But I am afraid that's where this is headed. I'm going to give it another heavy coat of penetrating oil.... Tried using a vice as a press once. Maybe some more oil will help. But definitely open to any other ideas.
  12. I'm working on my first conversion. It's a 7.62x39 that I just bought new a few weeks ago. I've done a Tapco G2, and Drauganov style stock. I have a new FSB on order, so I can mount a 74 style MB. I also have a press on hand guard retainer. I may or may not modify that. But either way, the stock FSB needs to come off. I am hoping to do it without cutting it apart. It may be silly, but I like to keep my stock parts... Ya never know. Anyway, I've tried to get the pins out, and those suckers are in there TIGHT! I was hoping that I might get suggestions on driving the pins out. Thanks!
  13. I have to give credit where credit is due. Having been in management in several organizations that put an emphasis on customer service, I have to say these guys are great!!! I'm new to the board, and haven't ordered from him before, but he promptly responded to my(sometimes dumbass) questions. I felt like I was a long time customer, because that's usually the only way to get that kind of service. Anyway, nuff gushing. Thanks, and I hope to keep doing business with you in the future!!!
