  1. Good looking rig. What brand of couplers are those?
  2. I have both. Too early to tell. I do believe the Akdal will be the better of the two in time.
  3. Will shortening the overall length of the op rod to fully seat into the carrier effect the function without any changes to the gas block or gas tube? Reason I ask, is that my 2001 built Saiga's operating rod is approx. 3.481" from the end of the carrier to the tip of the op rod with about 4 full threads showing. If I go to a heavy duty op rod and in order to screw it down flush leaves me under my factory length of 3.481" will this effect function? Yes, you need to maintain the proper over all length because this will effect the travel/stroke of the op rod/carrier during cycling. I hav
  4. Thx guys. I ordered one of Coles rods when I noticed mine was cracked. Since I believe there is an oal issue with my system, is there a proven method for establishing it when replacing the piston?
  5. During a Speed Shotgun match Saturday, the piston in my S12 broke in half. The break was just behind the muzzle end where it begins to taper. I would normally think that the part was just brittle and replace, however, the carrier also broke a month or so ago just behind the threaded portion of it. The carrier was repaired and appeared to be straight. I'm guessing that the oal of the carrier/piston assembly is too short allowing the puck to slam into the piston resulting in a break at the weakest points of the 2 pieces. I wouldn't think the load would have anything to do with it as I run 7
  6. Kent, A buddy of mine is looking into 12 to 15 rounders. He should know more tonight.
  7. It works fine. It actually drops down just a little with a mag inserted. It can be manipulated with either the trigger finger or middle finger. I replaced a JT extended release with this one. I like it better because of the placement of the "pad". It could be be a result of being familiar with the extended 10/22 releases, this one merely mimics those. The only reason we did it was because Nuckols is left handed and we didn't like the existing designs.
  8. Recoil would only be an issue if you weren't holding onto the pistol grip.
  9. Try a lighter spring. 1911 recoil springs work fine.
  10. A buddy of mine, Gary Nuckols, and I wanted an ambi mag release other than what was available and here's what we came up with.
  11. Please post a pic after the repair. A what it should look like may be helpful.
  12. Thanks. I'll give css a call and talk to someone there.
  13. New to the forum, and Saigas for that matter. Regardless of location, what is currently the most effective compensator available for use with the stock gas system? Any information will be appreciated.
