  1. I would day go for the pistol. Having owned an xdm .40 and a glock 27 (carry) it's really a tossup. I love the xdm. I also love the glick though. Next on my last is a 1911 If your want full size I'd say the xdm. If you want a compact I'd go glock.
  2. Watch a few of the how to vids and make your own decision. Greg at carolina shooters supply has videos on his site.
  3. Any moron could pop the carrier off and see it's not full auto. Could even test it by dry firing it. I say do what you want. I would be very careful about where you notch though cause I wouldn't want it so close that it could accidentally discharge if you hit the trigger.
  4. I gotcha. Just seems like it would cause stress to the thin walls there it is threaded in.
  5. You're probably right. Just being paranoid haha. Just hate knowing that if something does happen replacement parts are no where to be found.
  6. I would throw in a booster puck before hacking up your barrel. Others will advise against it but i'd rather make the system more efficient than force it to work unnecessarilly hacking up perfectly good parts. Also polish the bolt/hammer/carrier.
  7. Good deal. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't an immediate concern. It'll bother me until it's addressed so it'll get fixed sooner or later. Shortly after posting this JT posted pretty much what you said in another thread... I've probably had it apart more times than actual shooting sessions and thought I had remembered a little wiggle but I check for cracks religiously now. Someone needs to figure out how to source these or make new ones.
  8. Ok so these recent broken carrier thread have got me worried so after shooting some this evening with a buddy of mine I broke her down for cleaning and inspected the carrier. Well I can actually wiggle the operating rod. Are y'alls the same way? I'm thinking this is a candidate for another broken carrier assembly. Should I have it sent off and go ahead and replace with a tom cole rod and have it bottomed out all the way so the carrier takes the full jolt instead of the thin walls where it's threaded in??? Not like these carriers are laying around for replacements sadly.
  9. The questioning comes from the possibility of the tap being welded to the carrier due to them being similar metals? The reasoning behind copper is that you can't weld copper to steel. It simply will not stick.
  10. My only guess is that you guys have enlarged your ports allowing more debris in. I have never found plastic in mine. I have a four port model. As I stated earlier after the booster puck I went from not being able to shoot from the hip to being able to with reasonable reliability. Just have to hold it firmly.
  11. Call all the bs you want but my guns don't get put up dirty... Even after two hundred rounds in a day a little cleaner and a brush and my puck had no issues being removed. Even if you want to use a dowel rod or something similar to drop it out I hardly call that "troublesome".
