  1. Youre getting ALOT of really bad advice here, dont buy anything yet, get some training. Then stick to KNOWN reliable brands Glock, HK, MP. Honestly, just get a g19 and be done with it.
  2. With modern ammo the differences in performance of the major pistol calibers effectiveness is very little. The only real benefit of a 40 or 45 is certain loads are better at penetrating auto glass than 9mm. Pistols require alot of shooting 9mm is WAY cheaper than 40 for training. l'd recommend a gen 3 glock 19, SW MP9, HKs are good but pricey, Sig also has some ok pistols but DA/SA is harder to learn.
  3. l would get a colt for around 1k thats EASILY the best thing going now. Out of the ones you listed l would get the DD and not even consider the other two.
  4. ^ depends if youre shooting sub loads or not. l have a 22lr, 300 aac, and 308 suppressed. The 22lr is near silent, the 300 aac is "hollywood quiet" the 308 sounds more like someone shutting a car door than shooting a rifle. The key is you have to shoot a sub sonic load, regular ammo will still have the crack.
  5. Hornady has a 545 load with the vmax bullet. Vmax, while it is a good bullet is considered a varmint round not match ammo. Amax is hornadys match bullet. Im not trying to be a dick, but you cant just slap a heavy barrell on an AK and expect it to be any more accurate than a regular AK. In order to get an AK to be really accurate you would have to basically rebuild the whole gun to the point that it wouldn't really be much of an AK anymore AND then be able to work up a load for it, which isnt possible with 545. All l'm saying is the barrell only adressess one issue and accuracy is a
  6. Seems to me like getting a 20inch heavy barrel would only make an AK even more front end heavy and unbalanced, coupled with the fact that you cant reload 545 and no one makes match 545 ammo, this doesnt make much sense to me. Your still going to be shooting surplus ammo.
  7. None of the semi pocket pistols are reliable enough for cc. Even if you do get one that feeds flawlessly there still very likey to stovepipe if you dont get a good grip on it. If you actually limpwrist it, l guarantee it will stovepipe within a few shots- not something you're gonna wanna have in a high stress situation where perect form and grip may not be an option. There is a reason every serious pistol instructor recommends usually a glock, mp or hk. I would stay away from the pocket pistols for CC or protection. I think on this very forum their was a person involved in a SD shoo
  8. Wheres everybody getting their 545 magazines? I did a quick search and couldn't really find anything.
  9. My factory threaded barrel looked exactly like the top pic.
  10. I think your description of rimfire central is a little off, its 99% 70 year old plus men who are to cheap to even put a decent scope on their rifles and claim a 125 mueller apv thats made in china is a fine optic. The biggest problem the have is their all old titewads. The NRA would have to pry the 25$ out of their old fingers to ever see a cent of it. The vast majority of rfc doesnt even know what an anshutz is.
  11. Unless you dont want an AR, Colt 6920s are around 950 l'd get either another AK in 223 or an AR. The reason l mentioned the Colt 6920 is because for the price you cant really go wrong. l'd stay away from a century build unless it can be inspected and has available after market parts in the event something breaks.
  12. Im a member there, dont post much on any forum. They get there panties in a bunch if you mention any of the ARs short comings, it almost comical. Most AK owners are willing to admit the AKs flaws, not gonna happen at m4carbine if youre talking about ARs.
  13. I wouldn't say my eye is any better than yours but for what its worth, my factory threaded barrel looked exactly like the top picture of yours tram. LOL, good luck.
