  1. You say you want to keep it stock now. But after a dozen times reloading your mags at the range you'll really start to reconsider.. I'll put money on it
  2. I live in N.Y. As well. Picked up 2 south african galil mags. There was a little side to side wobble but I had a buddy powder coat them and it solved the problem.
  3. I'm pretty sure there steel.. All I really know is there South African.. Same as IMI but with a different stamp... Whatever that means.. I was givein a email address by a friend for a person who had pre ban (thanks New York) galil mags that will work with my saiga.. From the research I've done replacing the follower and floor plate to US made parts will add to the compliance parts needed. I just haven't had any luck finding them..
  4. Just remember if you think your going slow enough.... Go slower....
  5. So I got the mags today... Pre-ban 35 galil... I only had a few minutes so I threw 10 rounds in each and headed out back.. There was a little side to side wobble but not to bad.. 9 rounds went thru great... the last, not so much... It jammed up... I talked to a friend who's all about AK's.. he said to change the follower and if I want change the base plate to the mags (witch adds 2 compliance parts) and that should solve that issue.. Hope this helps
  6. Where can I find some galil mag followers and bases to swap out on my pre ban mags? Thanks fellas.
  7. I live in NY as well and from the research I've done it seems that galil mags will work once you install the bullet guide. I just installed my bulle guide last night and now am waiting on a pair of galil mags. Onec there here I'll five you my findings
  8. Shootsmuch... I agree... But for the first time modifying any type of firearm I'd like to think that it didn't go as bad as it could have.. It still works just fine with the 50 test rounds I put thru it and I didn't notice any difference in the action..
  9. Just took it out back and ran 50 rounds thru it, no issues. I'm just waiting on a pair of galil mags to get here for the final test
  10. I got a saiga chambered in .223.. So I need to install a bullet guide... I messed up pretty bad in the beginning.. I went to fast tapping the trunion and the tap broke and come to find out my drill bit slid a little bit when i drilled my hole.. It was a huge mess but after I took a sept back and drank a beer I went at it like a mad man (witch I was). I ended up breaking 2 drill bits and bent my punch.. Thankfully I was able to pop it thru and still save some of my threads.. I was able to save the tap too thanks to a bench grinder... Now on to my next problem witch was the hole not being perfe
  11. So I think I'm going to stick with the factory FCG but go with the tapco G2 trigger. I'm heading to the range tomorrow to make sure that's where I want to keep it.. I'll be ordering the FCG witching the next few days.. I just hope everything works out
  12. Also would the AR15 adaptor count as a compliance part?
  13. Thanks for all the tips fellas. I already pinned the stock before I applied it. And as for the 922r compliance I know im in violation as of right now. What would be some easy/moderate changes I could make to make it compliant? I thought "converting it" was making it 922r compliant. All your thoughts and tips will help.!
  14. Thanks! I'm just worried about drilling or grinding something that could effect the operation of the firearm.
