  1. Somewhere on here a long time ago I did a side by side comparison of my PSL and .308 Saiga. If I can remember correctly both rifles shot about the same with the PSL winning out slightly. I need to note that my PSL was an SSG97 from interordnance and was 100% built in romania with some tuning done by me and an 8x42 POSP. It would hit 3/4-1.5 moa @ 100m (not yards) and do 1.5-4moa at 200m with Czech silvertip. 54R rifles always seem to do better at 200 than 100, something about the bullet settling down. The .308 was converted and had an ATi drag stock and a 6x42 POSP. with the best surplus it
  2. I'd post a new pic of me but unfortunately I was trying to be cool and take one of thos pictures where I'm aiming a rifle at you but accidentally shot my camera. Not to worry, it only grazed my wife holding it. A few band-aids and a 12 pack of Bud Light and shes doin fine.
  3. thats the kit I used for mine. FSB doesnt fit but luckily its because its too small. machine it out for a press fit and youre good to go. been a few years since I did mine so I dont remember what I did as far as the gas block goes.
  4. I just typed a big long post about my screen name I use for most everything then realised I dont use it on here... on here I use Danny Boy but I'm not Irish, I'm a whole bunch of Scottish.
  5. Like you don't poop with your Saiga... modified the mag by welding a feed ramp to the front like the Saiga mags US stockset PG painted to add contrast. G2 FCG Bulgarian FSB,brake, front handguard retainer, dust cover, and trigger guard. E german bakelite mag with US 5.56 follower & floorplate in order to get the FSB to fit I had I used sandpaper on a dowel rod until it pressed on
  6. Everytime I see this topic I always get the Hank Williams Jr country boy can survive lyrics goin in my head. "We come from the West Virginia coal mines..." I would want a semiauto rifle able to drop man sized targets to 600m so I'd have to carry a .308 Saiga with a posp. My first instinct was Romak3 but its limited to 10 rounders, and the damn thing is four feet long. I usually take 2 rifles and at least 400 rounds for each every time I go to the range and 400 rounds of .308 is easier to pack than 54R mainly because of the rimmed cases. A Saiga.308 with a 6x42 or 8x42 scope and the ava
  7. I just got back into my weapons after a three year break. I sold off most everything I had and can't believe the price difference from then to now. I sold my 22" barrel SVD style stock converted .308 with a 6x42 POSP for $400. Luckily I kept my S20 and my AK74 clone .223 (922r compliant w the trigger group, furnature and us followers) that I have less money in than just buying a .223 rifle nowadays. Last time I bought 5.56 ammo a 500rd box of lake city was less than Half what it is now, and Walmart had Win .223 for $7 box of 40. I got rid of the .308 because I had a modded SSG97 that would o
  8. can't remember if I ever shot for group size with my .223, but my normal Saiga workout is 200m no optics and winchester 55gr fmj that I get from wal mart in 40 rd boxes. sitting on top of the shooting table (other guys at the range get pissed when I do this, damned if I know why) resting the rifle on my knee I'll put 50 rounds or so at a full size silhouette target and usually end up with a 98% hit rate. Side note- If I can ever find a 10FP .308 in a left handed model its all mine. I hear way too much good about them not to get one.
  9. I tapped mine off with a punch, just be sure to get it back on straight. I had mine a little crooked but the pin still went back in. I had to tap it back out before I straightened it.
  10. there's a few different tricks to putting in the shepards hook, none of which I can describe here. It's pretty easy though. The AK trigger group is so simple its stupid, you'll see when its out and laying on the table in front of you.
  11. Yep, the ROMAK3 marked rifles are 100% built in Romania and were the first ones available here. If it has SSG97 in the S/N, then its an Interordnance imported 100% Romanian built rifle, and the same as the ROMAK3.
  12. You know, I never thought of that. I'm a lefty and shoot left handed, and with the scope offset to the right, I get a much better and more consistant cheek weld. Maybe thats why my groups are better than average on all my POSP equipped rifles. It's definately not my skills.
  13. So let me get this straight- you're building a Viagranov? Won't it only shoot straight up? Ahem...Sorry. As I understand it, there should be NO problem with parts count as long as the only evil feature you add is the thumbhole stock, as it would still be importable in that configuration. Go sticking a hi cap mag in it or adding a bayonet lug or flash hider and then you have problems. The PSL and WASR low caps are imported with 100% Romanian parts. Your Viagranov would be no different, but a nice adjustable US FCG and a stainless gas piston would be worth the effort anyway. Followers
  14. Classic arms is a gret place to deal with. I used to buy Surplus rifles and ammo from them all the time. FPK is a BS name just like the retards that try to call them Dragunovs. I ordered mine from Interordnance with an 8x POSP for $715 shipped. Interordnance is great except the fact that I heard that they would be shipping my rifle next week for over three months. Mine is a Romanian built PSL (I just call it a Romak3 even though its marked SSG97, which is I/O's designation) and was a goof or oversight on I/O and the Fed's part. It showed up with a bayonet lug and the muzzle break only pinn
