  1. Twitch, I hear you, and I concede that designing it that way makes sense but looks goofy IMHO (and we all know how opinions go). By aligning the lower rail with the barrel I suppose one of two thing must happen: 1) the H.G. looks too high where the handguard mates w/ the receiver WRT the bottom surface of the receiver, or 2) the front of the H.G. would have to be machined "lower" than the retainer ring. I used an AMD handguard back in '04'ish to make my own rail system and as a result, the lower rail is not parallel with the barrel (which I don't mind at all). The two side rails, secured t
  2. Hmm, I wonder if they'll address the cant the lower rail has. My AMD hand guard does the same thing in my SAR2 cause it does't quite fit right under the front trunion.
  3. Man, I hate all you out there that have your rails! I procrastinated...and procrastinated...and procrastinated some more and didn't order mine till mid August (and like a true dumb-ass, waited too long to get the deal). I have resigned myself to the fact that I am a long way out yet. Oh well, my own fault. I hate you!
  4. I have an ACE Galil style grip on mine and I love it (one on my SAR-2 also). There is a caveat to that though: I slid a piece of bicycle innertube over the grip to get it to where my hand didn't want to slide right off of its very smooth surface; it also enlarged the grip's OD. In the days when I carried a SAW with me, I liked the size of the SAW grip due to the weight and size of the weapon it was attached to, but I didn't necessarily like the grip itself. I just can't see putting one on any of my POWs (although there are many that will disagree with me about that). 1st
  5. Does the Sav. gun show still suck? When I was stationed there ('96-'03), there was more wallet vendors and leather chap/vest vendors there than firearm vendors (ok, I exagerate a little, but you get my point). The Ailee Shrine was a little better, but not much. By the way, is Vinnie Van Go-Go's still there? They had the best calzones! 1st
  6. Hey Gents. So far, Flogger seems to have been the only one to get one up and running. Mine still does not seem to work 100%, or even 75%. I have the same problem as scoutjoe, the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th just don't seem to have enough push behind them and they jam. The first few work great, and the last few also, but those damn middle ones....... Its not a spring tension thing. I've taken it apart, and you cannot add another turn to the spring. Its as tight as it can be and still allow the loading of all 10 rounds (actually, I can fit 11 in there no problem). So..........I've kinda pu
  7. Is there anything that you can't use 550 cord for? Very nice, BTW. 1st
  8. he he he. We should form a club. I've come to be very used to the teaste of my own two feet. 1st
  9. Hardcorps was right, plus, it gives the your buddies behind you the ablility to press up against your back and cover your sector. With their barrel overtop of your head, you won't accidentally stand up and mask their fire (or, worst case cenario, become another statistic). Cobra 76 two, not my 100th post, but 100th for this thread! 1st
  10. Woohooo, 100th post! Hey Gents. I still haven't produced a reliable NLFD. Some of the rounds still aren't popping up into the path of the bolt yet. I took it apart completely and rotated the whole follower group to add more tension to the follower, and with just one extra rotation, it is too tight. There is too much upward pressure exerted on the bolt (by the round right below the one stripped), which causes it to close on the chamber sluggishly, or not at all. So I had to back off on the spring tension. I still haven't given up yet, I've come this far, I'll finish the race. For th
