I bought a 308 Saiga, mostly converted, but still partially dissembled. It is clear that the gas block cannot be tapped back on, and will require a press. I have access to various types at a friends place of work, but I am looking for experienced insight on how to place the receiver in the press, and how to fabricate a fixture to apply pressure from the barrel end. I was thinking a tube over the barrel to engage the gas block, and then pressing on the tube? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Where can I get Saiga 308 Hi-caps for $30? Thanks.

I'm in for one, and thanks for getting to work on this.

A converted Saiga 308 with ten magazines will cost more than a Century FAL with ten magazines. A lot more. I have a Cetme, (with ACE side Folder) an FAL, an M14, and a Saiga 308. If I could keep only one, it would probably be the Saiga, if and only if I had ten hi-cap mags, which I do not. My second choice would be the CETME if and only if I had a functional scope mount, which I do not. The M14 is just too damn big and clumsy. That leaves the FAL, for now. It is accurate, reliable, and fast handling (despite it's length)

What did you use for a hand guard retainer?

The best place, is on a railed lower hand guard, rearward towards the magazine. If this is not an option, mounting as far back from the muzzle as possible will put less l upward leverage on the barrel.

Does anyone sell reworked Bulgarian TFSBs to fit 16 S.308?
bluedog replied to bluedog's topic in Saiga .308
I have a made in the USA copy of the Bulgy that I found for $25.00 at Blackthornproducts.com. I had my smith turn my barrel to fit. It will accept the Bulgy. flashider. Dinzag was recommended to me by a friend, and he is semi local as well. But he has not been here since the end of January according to his profile. I sent him an email and hopefully he can help me out. I would rather not have the barrel removed and turned if possible. -
I am looking for the threaded front sight block with the 24mm threads and bayo lug. If not for sale, does anyone rework customer supplied ones? Thanks
