JJL0325 0
I saw these online recently, does anyone have one? I've never been a fan of all the other AK-to-AR buttstock adapters, they just dont look right when installed. Since it's made by Vltor I'm sure the quality will be there. I was hoping someone had a pic of one on an AK/Saiga...
JJL0325 0
I half answered my own question, found a pic. Looks a helluva lot better than other adapters, IMO. Now does anyone have user-experience with them? Alright I can't figure out how to add the pic, here's a link for anyone who cares. http://www.vltor.com/images/AKsmall-600.jpg Edited September 16, 2009 by JJL0325

I didn't even know they had any parts besides AR parts. I think CSS here carries another adapter that has good reviews as well. I'm not sure who makes that one, though. shooter2 5
I've got the VLTOR RE-47 on one of my Saiga-12s and one of my AK-74s. I'm a fan. Edited September 17, 2009 by shooter2
JJL0325 0
The thing that really appeals to me about this particular one is that you don't have to cut the tang. I have already cut mine for an ACE but on my next Saiga, or anyone else wary of cutting their tang, it is a more attractive option.

I was reading the product specs on the Vltor website and it says this adapter has Mil-spec outer dimensions so will only work with Colt or Vltor buttstocks. I no nothing about AR's at all. Does no one else make mil-spec stocks?? and how would the CAA adapter at CSS work with other buttstocks?

Just about every AR stock made that fits onto a conventional receiver extension is made in both milspec and commercial. All of Magpuls stock are available in either size. vitamink 90
I just got the CAA stock tube and put the magpul stock on it. I had to do a little grinding on the buffer tube to get it to fit as my pg nut was kinda in the way, but it's solid as a rock. I put on the non mil spec magpul moe stock and it's pretty slick. I've been getting compliments all day. By the way i purchased this from greg at css...I think it arrived at my door before i even pressed the "confirm order" button. Amazing service. I think greg is planning on speeding up his service so all you have to do is think about a part you need and it'll materialize on your gun. I've noticed that CSS is the only place that carries the command arms buffer tube with the mount points which work well with my single point bungee sling. A+ for Greg. By the way i have a tapco black plastic m4 stock for sale if anyone is interested pm me
stiletto raggio 20
I have one on a 7.62 Saiga conversion and it is probably my favorite rifle stock. It locks up tight and puts your head in exactly the right spot for iron sights. I used an VLTOR on my M4 in Iraq and they are great. I will probably buy more, though I don't know how they will work with 12 gauge recoil. Go for it and let us know how it works on a shottie. vitamink 90
"He had my order shipped the next business day." Next business day nothing... I swear he shipped mine before i even ordered it. And it arrived a week before i was born. I'm sure this makes no sense and it's probably the beer talking....buuuuuut..... i think greg has a time machine. There i said it. Back to the adapter thing, don't get the UTG one. A. it's crap. and B. it looks silly. I dig my command arms adapter. Should you want one, order from greg today and it'll arrive sept 20th...of 2004, that's right order today, and you've already had it for 5 years. Ok time for bed. Ordered a Polychoke II, NATO length ak stock, Gunfixr plug, and reduced recoil and main springs at about 11 pm last Monday night. Reading this thread made me check the status on my order and apparently it was delivered to my apartment complex this morning I ordered a new motherboard for my computer off Amazon last Friday using UPS and it's not scheduled to be here til the 21st! Pretty much every company that makes AR stocks, has them available in mil-spec. Actually, come to think of it, I've never seen a company that makes an AR stock, only have them in "commercial". It's usually the other way around; they'll have mil-spec, but might not have commercial. You're stock selection is much wider, with a mil-spec extension.
MT Predator 2,294
It appears the Vltor keeps the tube in alignment with the bore. Does the CAA line up the same or does it look like the Tapco abortion?

vitamink 90
Hey MT, the caa does dip down ever so slightly, but it's not like the tapco at all. If you look at your saiga receiver, the front end towards the barrel is thinner than the rear end towards the stock. The tube follows the angle of the bottom of the receiver, not the top of the receiver where the cover snaps on. So there is a downward angle, but just slightly and it eloquently matches the aesthetics of the gun. i can send you a picture if you'd like just pm me.
