Before I attempt to ferret out answers from you all, let me first ply you with a little gun porn, specifically that of my new toy, a Saiga 12 I snagged a few months back and converted, thanks to the great info on here. After all, who doesn't like pictures of guns?

So first, allow me to present to you, my bare-bones Saiga, flanked by her sisters, my G26 and my girlfriend's P22:

Posted Image
The trifecta, as it were, though curiously missing a rifle - soon to be rectified.

The Saiga sports the typical accoutrements: Tapco stock, grip, and FCG, along with a herd of SureFire mags. While I was on conversion duty, I took the liberty of polishing the bejesus out of the FCG, bolt, bolt rails, and anything else that got in the way of my Dremel.

Shiny shiny.

Et, la pièce de résistance, a video of this monster in action. You'll have to be forgiving of my maniacal laughter - there's simply something about wielding such a ridiculous, yet awesome, weapon that inspires bouts of lunacy.

Alright, now that your hunger for photos has been temporarily sated, let me get my end of the bargain, the answer to two questions:

1. Where would you recommend ordering a Gunfixer plug from? This particular Saiga is a 3-port one, and I had a lot of stovepiping with lighter loads. Time to kick it up a notch, so to speak.

2. The metal pad on the generic AK stock is a bastard. I ran about 100 rounds of 3" magnum birdshot down the pipe, and it left me with a welt the size of a softball. Slugs might blow my arm off. Part of that is assuredly that I am a pussy, but my girl is uncomfortable shooting this evil creation as well. Who sells a nice-fitting rubber pad that fits these stocks? I'll go with an ACE stock if I have to, but I actually like the looks of a non-folder on this thing.

Thanks, all!

1. Yes, get a Gunfixer plug. Either MD Arms or Greg at CSS

2. I'm not sure how well these fit on the Tapco stocks but it's cheap...linky.

Heh, that laugh reminds me of Seth Rogan. :D

Fucking up soda cans doesn't usually inspire an evil laugh from me, but a few slugs through a fresh CRT monitor has been known to do so :killer:

As for a recoil pad, that slip-on 'nade launcher pad might work or you could try modifying a Limbsaver.

Alright, so I've got three things on my agenda to buy now. Looks like CSS has everything I need.

That Tromix charging handle looks nice. Might make dropping the bolt a little easier as well - slamming an open fist against the stock charging lever kinda hurts.

Those grenade launcher recoil pads are ugly as hell, unfortunately. Guess I'm going with the ACE stock, whenever I can fit it into the budget. They're pretty proud of those things, though :( :dollar:

Does anyone have experience with the ACE M4 SOCOM stock? I wonder how the adjustment mechanism copes with the recoil of high-power loads.

Thanks!

Yeah "Those grenade launcher recoil pads are ugly as hell" but they sure work well...and fuck 'em if they don't like it...wait until they see that gun shoot.

I may yet pick one up as a holdover until I can get a folder of some sort on it. Just out of curiosity, how much do the grenade launcher pads add to the length of pull?

A plug and some better sights. That's all I'd do. I wish I could have a gun in that configuration.

+1 on the sights. Easiest and most effective for the money, would be the Krebs Custom sights. You can clamp the front sight out near the end of the barrel. Doubling the sight radius makes a big difference.
A vented forearm and vented gas tube cover will make it look and run cooler. Not just saying that cause I sell them either. It really does make a difference after you dump a few mags...especially once you get your drum......and you WILL eventually have at least one drum for it...I can tell by the laugh....it's just like mine...:lolol:

WELCOME

Oh and I almost forgot...the GL pad will add about 1.25" if I remember correctly. I'd measure mine for ya but it's on my PSL right now at the back of the safe. Trust me...it's worth the 15 bucks. It's also a lot more purdy after a few boxes of slugs...lol.

Does anyone know if those grenade launcher butt pads fit an Ace and/or Tromix stock?

I think they are just slip on that are designed to work with the AK stocks, so it will probably just slip off. You could probably make it work, but I would just go with the Ace 1" pad. That's the road I am going to have to take. I go through a 100 round value pack in about 30-45 minutes and the 1/2" pad just isn't cutting it.

I'm sure there are a bunch out there but this is the one I use for my AK stock... http://www.fseusa.co...products_id=339 Greg as CSS sent me a totally different one for my collapsible stock....fits tapco and UTG I like the first one better to take up the recoil.

I say you need to side fold that sucker, I used a CSS side folder and a CSS internal block with ace adapter with tapco recoil pad, I'm very happy with it.

I had the same stock as you for a while, and it was very hard on my sholder.

I also added the russian front sight that we had on the estore for a while

I also have the gunfixer plug, it give me much more more adjustment to work with

Here is how she looks for now.

I may add a railed forarm for a VFG later on, with the MD20 mounted it's kinda hard to get a good grip... and I want to add a flash light for those once a year night matches we have with 3gun. ;)

I'm tempted to put a side folder on it. Do the ACE folding mechanisms lock in place?

Good lookin' Saiga!

Alright, guys - with the help of everyone here, I've got a recoil pad on the way to hold me over until I can afford a proper ACE stock, and a Gunfixer plug coming from CSS.

Range report coming as soon as I get my goodies!
