I have a 22" Saiga that I want to put a muzzle device on. the particular device has an internal Diameter of around 6mm on my calipers. The outside barrell dimensions (as best I can tell, I got the pins out, but not the FSB removed completely)are around 7.5mm.

1. Can I remove that much barrel material under the FSb without damaging the gun?

2. I don't have access to power tools to turn the barrel...what methid would be best for alternatives?

Something is wrong in the numbers you gave, I know the OD of your barrel is more than 7.5 mm, as the bullet that travels thru the barrel is 7.62mm. as to the muzzle device you mention, 6mm is roughly .244" again, I think your measuring something wrong.

Yes, it can be done, and it has been done by many people.
No power tools required.

I used hammer, punch pin, file, 14x1LH die and bar. Then welding torch and brazing rod, but it was required by NY laws.

PM me if you have some specific questions

I hate your "standard" measurement system.
Millimeters please

I was able to remove the original FSB tonight with the help of a small hacksaw blade.

The internal dimensions of the NEW FSB/Flash hider is 14mm and the outside barrel dimension is 17 or 17.5...hard to tell.

Yep, that sounds right. At this step I used a file to reduce the diameter to 15.5 mm for thread

brass hammer or a big brass punch works the best to get the fsb off you dont need a press.

My hammer wasn't big enough, so I had to cut mine off...

I think I really screwed up putting the new FSB/FH combo on my rifle. I was 3/4 on and reheated the FSB and put the hammer to it. Guess I was a little frustrated that that last few mm was being difficult.

The french system of measurement sounds great in theory, until you have to actually build something using it.
