Well Big5 was having a sale on Mosin Nagants so I decided to snag one. They were only $99 from the original price of $179. I remember when they were $79 all day long. Anyway, I picked up an all matching 1943 and am very happy. I had gotten one before but soon returned it because the bolt was getting stuck and I could not eject the shells. It is in great condition with all the accessories and was very pleased to see that there was no cosmoline in the bag at all. Pics are coming up.

I went by big 5 a week or so ago and they had a M1 for 800 bucks. I thought wow what a steal, asked to look at it, and wow....that poor rifle had rust inside the chamber, outside the receiver and up and down all metal pieces :( But I am glad you got a very awsome 91/30!!! Gratz to you and may many more fall into your hands

Cool. I have to beat my Mosin open and closed, but it sure is a blast to shoot.

The only time I had trouble with my Mosins' bolts is when I shot lacquered surplus ammo. That crap just coats everything like resin and makes it very hard to move. The bolts always stays smooth when I shoot clean 1950's Bulgarian brass and Silver Bear zinc cartridge soft-points.

By the way, where the hell did all the M38 and M44 carbines go, all of the sudden?

Congrats on the Mossin :super: I picked up an M44 a few months back, beautiful gun, doesn't appear to have ever been issued. I think we better grab some of these types of guns (that are in like new condition), while we still can, they are starting to get harder to find. Pics please :super:

I have one MN that was very hard to open and close the bolt, had to beat it open after firing. As with all guns I had thoroughly cleaned the damn thing before firing, but when I took it home and used a dental pick in the lug recesses I pulled out an ancient crusty cleaning patch that was wedged in there! It was so crusty with residue it matched the color of the steel perfectly!

Congrats on the 43'. Mines an #'s matching 1943 Izzy (even the spike bayonet).

Got it for $89 (hand pick) from Classic last March.

I heard stories about the Laquered ammo, all I got is Bulgy brass stuff from 50's.

Managed to get 100 rounds for $18 off GB, even with $10 shipping still $.28/round.

May grab a 'tin' of 440 for $99, but I want x39 ammo at the moment.

Thanks for all the comments guys. All numbers match except for the bayonet. I broke it down and cleaned the bore out and gave it a good once over and everything seems fine. I will be taking it ot the hills later to test it out. Her are some pics. Enjoy.
