First of all, thank you again Zach!

I wanted something longer than the Hellion but the full length rails are obviously too long . . .

I know I still need to refinish it, but I thought I post these pictures so it is easier to tell where I cut it.

Hello, Raoul_Duke
So, I assume that's a custom made/drilled Kross unit? Are they being offered to we minions?
Obviously, I think it looks pretty damn stellar. I reckon you have no interference from the vert. grip on reloading with that setup.

Respectfully,

Thank you guido!

Yes sir, customized by me! :smoke: I hadn't considered selling them . . . :lolol:

Tools used:
bench vise "padded" with wooden blocks
drill press (one could get by with a hand drill, but since I have a drill press I figured I should use it)
drill bits
hack saw with 24 tpi blade
el cheapo standard size flat file
Craftsman needle file set
various grits of sand paper wrapped around a small wooden block
(I think that's all . . .)

And no, there is no problem with the VG.

I did this for a few reasons: 1. moving the VG forward, 2. I like the looks of a longer HG, 3. aluminum seems less likely to break than composite, 4. it helps with cooling, 5. I think it looks bad ass!

Hello, Mr. Duke
Heck, I thought there may have been some custom work by Kross in there somewhere!
I guess that means your craftmanship looks pretty damn professional...

And thank you again guido! :smoke:

All the thanks to Zach is for being the nice guy that he is! :D  :super: I don't feel that I should discuss any details of our transactions without his prior consent. That being said, he went out of his way to "give me a hand" with this by exceeding the expectations I had when I first contacted him with the idea.

ETA: the inside of the HG where I removed some of the center "rib" could have turned out better. Notice, there are no pictures of that. :D

That looks great.

I had the longer handguard on my S17 before the Hellion.I have thought about figuring out a way to fit a longer rail on this gun......looks like you gave me some inspiration. :super:

RD,

Thanks!

This product may have never gotten off the ground if it wasn't for one particular customer who was determined to have one. ;). Once people saw those pics I started getting e-mails about making one.

We're looking forward to getting these out to the public.

Zach,

Seems very close to the original...is it possible for existing Hellion owners to send back their hand guard to be machined, and refinished, to fit this "Shorty XR" look?

Thanks,

Mike, PM Sent.

BTW, I had an opportunity to put one of these new Shorty XR's through the rounds last week and really enjoyed it. I think a lot of folks are going to be happy with this newly offered option.

I should have them in stock and ready to ship out within a week or so, along with new Shorty Hellion and Mid-Length Hellion HG's for the 12-14" Tromix S-17's. I'll be sure to update as soon as they're in.

Thanks,
