What is the correct range to sight in a Saiga 7.62X39 so that the rear sight adjustments will be accurate for proper battle sighting?

Thanks.

The rear sight of the Saiga is marked with numbers that stand for 100's of meters. 1=100 meters,2=200 meters,etc....

AK 47 battle sights are sighted at 25 meters and will be within a 16 inch circle out to 400 meters. Set your Saiga iron sights on the 100 meter mark and fire 3 shot groups at a 25 meter target, gradually adjusting the front sight until they hit center of the target. Your shots will be within a 16 inch circle out to 400 meters. Otherwise sight in for whatever zero that you prefer.

if you sight in for around 100 yards, you SHOULD be able to pull the rear sight to the "P" position and get dead zero at 25 feet. I zeroed at 20 feet on "P" with my sar1, and use the elevation adjustment for different ranges that I know it holds to.

try it both ways, see whats better for you. I made sure my sight is true at pointblank range.

I also sight the thing for the ammo I keep in my personal defense mag that is always loaded with quality milsurp. the stuff I keep for that mag to be reloaded with after a session is from portugal, and is fairly recent production stuff.

With the sight set for 100 meters, zero it at 100 meters. The back position on the sight is higher than the 100 meter setting and probably is a battlesight setting. Battlesight is generally 250 meters POI. This will allow a hit on a man sized target out to about 350 meters. I leave mine set on 100 so I know exactly where it will hit. To be sure you really need to check the POI at the different ranges on the sight with the ammo you are using.
