another reason not to buy hesse, who changed name to vulcan. this gun was a 223. it blew up yesterday..it had spot welds in front trunion. not a quality peice.. vulcan was contacted by the owner. response wa they want no part of it. recomendation: do not buy products from these people.

What exact kind of ammo was being fired through that rifle when it went ka-blooie?

Crap is crap and when you pay for crap you get crap, Vulcan is crap
no matter what rifle they sale still crap from the .223 to .50

Some people don't learn or have to learn the hard way.
IndyArms
Lets just hope I dont have to learn the hard way... I have fired hundreds of rounds out of mine... and I dont have/never had any problems with it... Although I HAVE done some minor work to it... like LOCKTITE on some threads... and I replaced the trigger with a Timney trigger... Maybe that was my poor quality, there... and I am all set now??

If mine goes, though... its going to go big... as it is the .50 BMG... 032.gif

lets hope it never does, and I have one of the few that are OK...

Wolf was being fired. If ammo was the problem I would be wearing the trunnion and bbl. As stated above Hesse/Vulcan is crap... Two trunnion plug welds failed to penetrate and the others were cold. The ejector was also soft because it was never properly hardened. I bought this in the early 90s and got it back in horestrading or I would have never bought anything with a Hesse/Vulcan name affixed. You have bigger balls or less brains touching off a .50 with Vulcans name on it...
BobAsh
Holy shit man I hope you're OK.

I'd always heard that spot/plug welding was inferior to riviting on builds. Are you saying that the Vulcan build was welded, not rivited? I need to blow the picture up to get a good look but in general there should have been 6 front trunion to receiver mounts. Just curious.
BobAsh
IMO welds are OK, but they have to be good welds.

Of different cal., I would have to say the wife and I have over 20k rounds through weld ups and only once did I see ONE weld of the front trun six, developed a ring where it was breaking away from the rec. That was a bump firing pistol build.

Welding can be done but have to be done right in the first place, do you think
Vulcan cares about the safety of any one they sale there guns, I don’t think so
and Indy I know you have a .50 I know you wanted a .50 and they don’t come
cheap, but bro don’t you think your safety is first, I know you can shoot something
and reshoot it, but man don’t you think that sooner or latter that gun can fail and hurt you
or hurt some one else, but hey is your skin not mine, you do as you please, you know
free country.

I all ways think of safety first even with my own built up or anything I do, if
I don’t like something I scrap it, even if some times cost, I never have the heart
to sale something to some one if I think the stuff is dangerous to shoot, I know
of people than built stuff from scrap and don’t even check head space or anything
to see if the stuff is safe, and they shoot it and tell me is ok I put 500 rounds true
it and works, and I think yes it works until one day it goes boom and the best is that
usually the ass hole that built it is not the one that gets hurt, but some other
poor shmuck, well stupid is stupid does.

If I will get something for some one I all ways go with the reputable maker
even if it cost, better have few that are quality than have many that are crap,
especially when you can get hurt or some one else can get hurt.

I don’t know man you have people like the guys at Tromix, AK-USA, krebs,
Red stick firearms building good stuff, why people go with crap like Vulcan
to save couple of bucks.

Just my 2 cents.

The Hesse POS was welded entirely. The crappy pictures were from my cell phone. I had two years of welding, they as stated were cold or failed to penetrate entirely. Yes, there was 6 plug type welds. Scott
