I am getting ready to convert my Saiga 223 and a 762x39. I will be doing the work myself, I have an AutoBody/Fabrication shop.

What needs to be done to add a small front handguard (Galil style, etc.)
Where can I buy a FCG retaining plate so I don't have to use the binding posts.
The extra holes in the reciever, can I weld them instead of using plugs?
Can I spotweld the trigger guard on instead of riveting or bolting?
Do I need to add a feedramp and where can I purchase one?How difficult to do?
Thanks in advance! JLPreban

My collection: Romanian AK, Oly Arms AR 15, 2 Tec 9's, 2 Mac 9's, 2 soon to be converted Saiga's 223 and 762x39.

Feed ramp, which is easy I pulled it off and lower handguard retainer from Dinzag http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=13403
FCG retaining plate http://www.midwestarmory.com/page5.html
I would think that plugs would be better than welding in case you would want to/have to go back to a different configuration. (I'm sure others will chime in here)
Should be able to spotweld the trigger.

all of that was for the x39 I'm not up on my .223 info

Thank you very much for the helpful information. I will go with the plugs and spotweld the trigger guard. I will contact Dinzag for those parts. Thanks for the fast reply and I will keep you posted on progress.

Tromix also has a handguard mount for the Tapco handguard.
