USS New York
It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center.
It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.
Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite, LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept. 9, 2003, "those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence," recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. "It was a spiritual moment for everybody there."
Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the "hair on my neck stood up." "It had a big meaning to it for all of us," he said. "They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back."
The ship's motto? "Never Forget"
Please keep this going so everyone can see what we are made of in this country!

Very cool....i'd heard they were doing that, but it had been so long i'd nearly forgotten about it (the ship not the events of 9/11) Thanks for showing us the end product. Impressive design too, interesting to see how the designs get more angular for reflecting radar away, not a stealth ship, but getting closer.

I saw something on the history channel where they talked to the shipyard guys and followed the process of building that ship.

Awesome ship. I've seen it before. Everyone that knows me has sent me a copy. Email, not the ship, LOL! You'd think all my friends think I'm pro military or something.

Oooooo, stealthy
And in just in case, between the navy boys loading the guns and the marines on board I'm sure it will still unleash some whoop ass

Personally, I love the whole idea.
It's like beating someone to death with the arm they tore from your body!
OOH-RAH!!!

didn't say it wasn't real, just said that it looks odd.
from the link you gave you can see a big picture, in which it looks better. the one posted in this thread looks off because it's a (badly) resized version of the same pic.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I understand what you're saying. I just check most everything through SNOPES before I comment.
