I have been waiting for almost a week now for the information to come out on exactly what is recalled. my cat is pissed off that its only getting fed dry food. It is a good thing, too, because I actually have 2 pouches of recalled stuff. I guess they are still investigating what dates are affected, but here is the basic list below:

link to the wesbite of the manufacturer with exact information you can search through if you have products that are of the brands listed --- http://www.menufoods.com/recall/index.html

Anybody catch the name of the "rat poison" that contaminated the food?
Hey, at least you know it works!

Hope your kitty is O.K. Bvamp!
we got 2 ourselves, on the "dry" as well for now.

thanks for the heads up!

My 2 dogs get only Canidea dry....thats all I have ever fed them with an occasional spoon full of pumpkin or green beans thrown in for a special treat. If you read the ingredience of canidae you will quickly see it is high quality. They also make cat food BTW.

The poison was aminopterin. It is a folate analog that inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins. The most common rat poison is warfarin sodium, a blood thinner, that causes internal bleeding. (It is also used medicinally in humans who require thinning of the blood, like people with artificial heart valves, have had a blood clot in the leg, etc.)

My cat only gets dry. I bought cheap dry food and the little shit kept barfing on my carpet. So he gets the more expensive shit now. And contrary to what Cobra believes, that cat's retarded.

that's another reason dogs are better than cats. my two douchebags love the cheapest food... it's even got "econo" in the name.
no rat poison in the cheap stuff!

Yes, but consider the amount they eat. One $6 bag last for well over a month. Dogs are high maintanence. Like I've said, I'm a single Mom. I don't have the time for an animal that needs that much attention. I had (have) a dog. Dixie. She lives with my son and daughter in law. Plus I spend weekends away from home most of the time. I just fill the food bowl, make sure there's water in his bowl (or leave the toilet seat up, lol) and make sure the litter is clean. If I had a dog, I'd have to come home and let it out or find someone else to do it. I love animals (well, except for snakes I have to sleep in the same room with) but I know what I'm able to adequatly take care of. Sammy is a snap.

the recall has expanded to dry food, as well.

the poison is in the imported wheat gluten. this product is used to thicken gravy and such, and is used in human products as well. it is just recently being imported from europe and asia.

expect this to expand more, although, they will lie to us and say our food isnt poisoned.

why save a few bucks and expose our food comapnies to a general poisoning problem? they should never have left thier american supplier.

big buisiness is making this country go to SHIT. steel just shot up from 3.75 /100 to 5.25 /100 overnight.

Personally I am absolutely DISGUSTED that Iams/Eukanuba, Nutro and other supposedly high-quality dog foods have put their labels on cans of Old fucking Roy and shit on their customers in truly appalling fashion. Whoever made that business decision should be fired immediately. I've fed Nutro for years and am so pissed off about this. I have 4 family dogs and 8 foster dogs right now, I can't even imagine the psychological trauma this could have inflicted upon my family. I'm going to switch to Kirkland Premium Dry Lamb and Rice from now on. Fuck Nutro! They deserve to be driven out of business for this.

what, you don't like paying double for re-labeled ol'roy?

I see that you didnt notice my mentioning of the thing that is poisoned. WHEAT GLUTEN. check your foods YOU eat for it. it is in a LOT of different foods out there, not just pet food.
